OME Lift questions....

So i think i have decided to order the OME suspension lift for my 2000 SR5 4x4, and am considering ordering it off of www.wheelersoffroad.com....

Im thinking i am going to order these specifics:
OME N91S Shock Set
OME 881 Spring Set
OME 95PF5 Trim Packer
10mm Lift Enhancer Kit
OME N86 Shock Set
OME 890 Coil Set

Considering this in mind, does anyone have any input? (better place to order from, things to keep in mind, other brands to consider instead) Basically I still don't know where I am going to get it installed, but one of my friends who is in auto tech school said he is willing to help me if I want to try and install everything myself. Thanks for your help....

I would say to go with Toytec. Also, all you really need to do is have someone install your new springs on the new struts... then you and your buddy should have no problems doing the install. Just unbolt, swap out, then bolt everything back up.

I have no mechanical experience and not even a garage. I did my entire OME lift myself in my driveway. (with a friends help, who also had no experience) I even managed to compress and install the heavy duty (882) front coils on the strut with the coil compressors you can rent for free from auto stores. We did 880's on my friends and it was really easy. The 882's took a little more ingenuity. It is really not a big deal to do yourself if you want to save some money.

Anyway, the important advice I can give you is to consider how much weight you carry in the back. I bought 890's and then swapped them for 891's. Here is a thread that tells the details of my story.

I think Ill go with the 891's in the back for sure, I'm always lugging around way too much in the back of my runner as it is. Golf clubs, fishing hunting stuff...etc... The only question I have is if i get the 882's for the front, I won't be able to get the top plate spacer which makes it a true 3" lift. But if your saying it will be a CV killer otherwise, I don't know if I want to go any other way than the 882's!

The 882's are insanely stiff. The coils are HUGE in diameter. They are designed for load, not so much for lift (although they do give lift) Unless you have an aftermarket front bumper and a winch (as I do) I would not even think about the 882's up front. They will be so, so, so stiff that they would be completely unnecessary. Even with all my weight up front (winch, ARB bumper and my hi-lift jack which I mount on the bumper), the front is still incredibly stiff. Also, with all that weight to push them down, my CV's started leaking soon after installing the coils. I put new clamps on and they are fine now.

I can't speak for the 881's, but think hard before putting the gigantic coils of the 882 on. We put 880's on my friends (stock front) and he is not happy with them. They are right for the load, but did not give him the lift he wanted. Maybe 880's and small spacers would be good for you?
