Hey guys,
I am ordering OME kit tomorrow. 885 front 895 rear. Does anyone run the 885s on a v6, adding winch later on, but dont want any probs before then. Will i have probs with the 885 on a V6.

Is the 885 the heavy?

Anyway, I'd love to know this answer as well as I think I'd do lift, then bumper, then winch.

I'll consider doing Heavy OME if the heavy isn't too too bad without accessories - yeah I know it will be at least a little rough.

Had OME on my '95 Tacoma with a bar and winch - loved it.

It will be stiff, so you might want to think about the accessories in the near future to help it out.

BurghRunner, the 885's are the medium. They are for a stock V8, or a V6 with winch/bumper. 884's are the light (for a stock V6), and 886's are the heavy (for a V8 with winch and bumper)

Retco, let us know how you like the OME vs Cornfed. I absolutely loathed how my 3/2 performed.

Hey Josh,
Yeah I sometimes think I'm making to big of a deal out of this but if its 6-10 months down the road before I get a bumper I don't want probs. I wouldn't think the 885s would be that much of a prob w/out a bumper/winch. They are only 10mm longer, same spring rate so they really shouldn't be any stiffer, just alittle extra length for added weight. I really need to make up my mind. What would you do. I do all the installation myself so I'm really thinkin about havin the front assembled for me , so its pretty much plug and play once I take off the spacers and x-reas. I have heard regular spring compressors might be a PITA w/ OME springs. Anyway, If I didn't think I was gettin a bumper/winch anytime soon I'd get the 884. Do you know anyone with a V6 that's running 885 w/out a bumper/winch. THANKS

I personally do not. Have you tried poking around 120? I think I remember seeing you over there not too long ago. I think it will just be on the stiff side. Whether it is too stiff, is more of a personal judgement. Like I said, you can go with the 885's, then if they are too stiff, maybe think about getting the bumper a bit sooner than planned. Either way, it's better than having to replace the springs in 6 months, and having to pay for the extra parts. I think you'll be fine, hopefully it's not too jittery on the road.

I'd like to know if anyone is running the heavy 886 with an arb bumper and a winch. I had the mediums on my Tacoma with an All-Pro tube bumper, winch, custom sliders, and full Budbuilt skid plates and I wished I had gone with the heavy. I had recommendations for the medium because mine was a 4cyl (1995.5), but with all that stuff the front sagged and didn't feel like it had enough spring off road.

Does anyone run the 886 on a 6 cyl with lots of stuff?

N140S + 886 front
N142 + 897 rear

Scale weight 2760 kg (6084.76 lbs) prepped for day trip w/full tank of gas.

front axle 1340kg
rear axle 1420kg

Yeah, lots of stuff. Not a V6, but a close match.

BurghRunner, I have a 07 SR5 V6 with an ARB bumper and warn 9000winch. Here is how my build went. I called ARB USA and requested the part#

Thanks so much for the reply.

I'm a while away from the build up - but I'm leaning on doing it OME 886 the first time. Your story was so similar to mine with the Taco. I had just the springs put on and it was fine - a couple months later I added the goodies and it took a nose dive.

Any chance of seeing some picks? Who did the work for you in NC?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the links to the pics. Awesome.

Good luck on the trip. I'm sure everyone would love to hear from you and see pics of your Runner in Africa.

Good luck. Stay safe.

Here is How Mine sits with ARB Bumper/ Warn 9000 Winch with 886 springs also have the heavys on back for that bumper
The thing rides Like a dream and I 4 wheel ALOT

To all u V6 owners, So will I be ok with 885s. I see some of you say 885 is to weak for winch/bumper. Will 885s be ok without winch/bumper.

Yeah I would go with 885 if your not using a bumper or winch ,it will be a bit smoother due to a lighter spring rate .

I have an 04 with arb bumper but no winch. Trying to decide weather or not to go 885 or 886 with 90021 ome nitrochargers. Any suggestions?

V6 with arb no winch

I just ordered the ome 886 and 895 with the 90021 softer valved struts up front. Someone else said that they shouldn't be paired together. Does anyone have any knowledge about this. I am just really worried after spending so much coin. Thanks

i think the only thing to consider regarding what shouldn't be paired together would be those 886 coils in the front if you only have the v6...even with a heavy bumper. for the v6, 884's work with no additional front weight, and 885's work if you have a bumper. OME also recommends the 885 for the v6 even if you have a winch on the aftermarket bumper. the 886's are beefcakes! meant to be used on a v8 with heavy bumper/winch hence the additional height and burly spring rate.

here's the breakdown on OME spring heights and ratings:
- OME 883: 375mm in height, 590 pound spring rate
- OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
- OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
- OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
- OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
- OME 888: 405 mm in height 590 pound spring rate

hope that helps. i have no additional weight in the front of mine so the 884's are great. lots of folks running OME coils on the v6 with weight in the front so hopefully they can chime in with what coils they are using.

Thanks. I actually changed my order to the 90000. I still kept the 886 though . The bumper alone actually weighs 198 lbs and I will throw a winch on as soon as I can afford it. The heavy coils make sense with that much weight. I apprentice response though. I've been down a rabbit hole trying to figure it out.

I run 886's with 90021 and the work well together.
