on-board air compressor opinions

Most all of the big name cordless tool platforms have 3-way powered (12VDC/120VAC/batter pack) air pumps. Most of which will go over 100psi. They don't have the CFM for air tools obviously, but cordless tools have taken the air tool era by storm, and if you're carrying batteries for your cordless impact and drill, you can use them on the air pump as well. Additionally, you're not always tethered by a cord this way.

Furthermore, most of the pumps have a low pressure, high volume mode as well, for airing up air mattresses, river floating toobs, and the like.

Obviously this would not work for air-lockers, but for folks like me who will just have airbags and the need for airing up & down my tires; and have swapped over to all cordless power tools, I think it is a great option. No modifications to the vehicle, the ability to use a variety of power sources, and most have a pressure setting so you don't have to play the swapping game between the air chuck and pressure gauge.

If you've got the room this one seems pretty stout. I believe they market to construction companies. I think it's less than $1k, so cheaper than the Oasis, but also much bigger.

That thing is HUGE, and it draws 80 Amps, and it weighs 100 Lbs! Not really meeting the needs of any 4runner I've seen. Heck I wouldn't want that in my Motor home!

I’d totally put that in my Unicat MAN 8x8! Which of course would be parked next to my Bugatti Chiron in my 12 car garage/shop in Malibu overlooking the ocean.
