On my way to an interview in my daily driver,......ball joint failure

MSDOS401 · 2017-12-13T00:09:03+00:00

While traveling to a internship interview in seemingly quiet and peaceful West LA neighborhood, driving blissfully without a care in the world. An evil speed bump comes up, thinking nothing of it as I've conquered all who have came before. I drive over it as if it weren't there, going up was awesome, coming down was the problem..... so can all the kings horses put humpty dumpty back together again? As I am not too mechanically inclined, I think I've either suffered upper or lower ball joint failure. I've read the official ball joint thread, but would like more information such as part numbers to the upper ball joints and in addition to any other pointers or information for first timers like my brother and myself while in fixing this mess. Basically what I would like if possible, a best case damage assessment, maybe confirm or tell me what went wrong, is my CV axle reasonable, why is my diff fluid milky... and of course why did this have to happen on an interview day :( http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/149467-official-lower-ball-joint-write-up-thread.html Car specs: 1996 toyota 4runner 3.4L Limited with 276K on the odomiter, stock height and stock tires size. Thanks for all and any information.

I noticed that also! I've never seen a OEM UBJ with grease zerk. The boot is
oversized compared to OE, could use grease to stretch it a bit.
Or it's not Torque'd

It is torqued to 105 ftlb, just a weird sized boot, also you are correct about the zrek, i like that it is grease-able
