Thinking about it some more, they probably do forecast over HD radio since that would be local to the station they are using for HD radio, but the radar would need a data connection

One day I will look into all this crap they build into cars audio systems these days. I don't have my phone connect to the car and I don't use speech recognition in the car or with my phone and I don't use navigation in the car. Pretty much I use my stereo to play music and I use my phone to answer phone calls, text and look at the internet. I don't even have any games on my phone

(I do let my phone connect via bluetooth so I don't have to be distracted if it should ring...but I don't have a twitter, facebook, instagram, linkedin or any other kinda social media account that my wife, her family and friends seem to know quite a bit about. So there! :smokin::heh

The 2016 has Entune version 2.5 with Siri eyes . The voice recognition is better on my 16 than was on my 15 and 13.

I really like this, as I am a bit of a weather nerd. Does your phone have more frequent updates, or is it always on a 15 min interval? Unfortunately my radio only came with 3 special "features".... It flickers like crazy at certain brightness levels, it cant be read in bright light or with sunglasses on, and it makes a loud buzzing sound especially when it's cold. It was obviously designed by some hungover intern in 1 day, and pushed directly into production. Thanks Toyota.

As long as your phone has bluetooth, a data connection and the entune app installed, you don't need it for anything else as far as your T4R is concerned.

My "holy crap I didn't know it did that" moment happened last week on a road trip. Using the split screen with Nav on one side, compass on the other, I noticed that it tells you what the speed limit is. Super helpful!

It has Siri eyes free?!

Edit: apparently you hold the off hook switch for a few seconds and it will activate Eyes Free. Works really well. Much nicer than holding the button on the phone where Siri interacts with the head unit like a phone call.

I also messed with the destination search and Yelp app, too. Pretty snappy. I love that you can now just type an address into the destination search on the Entune app and sync the destinations in the car. Way nicer than screaming at the head unit or pulling off so you can enter the address.
