One inch front lift install question

I have a set of Cornfed front one inch lift spacers. I have a 2wd 4runner.

Is it possible to get these in without disassembling the upper A arm? My thought is to remove the upper strut nuts on both sides, raise the truck enough to let the struts drop out of their mount, slide the spacers on the struts, then drop it back down onto the mounts and replace the nuts.

Will that work with these thin 1 inch lift spacers?

It will work if the studs are long enough to reach through the spacers and give adequate threads for the nuts.

Are your spacers 1" thick, or are they a "one inch" lift. If the latter, they should be about 1/2 inch thick. Generally you get about 2" of lift for each inch of spacer in the front.

The Cornfed web site should have instructions as to how to install these. Don't make it up on your own.

They are one inch lift, about 3/8" thick. They will fit on the stock studs, no problem.

I just installed the 1" front leveling kit from:

Burtman Industries

If these are the ones you got, they are 1/2" therefore will lift the front of your truck 1".

RonJR is correct with his measurements when it comes to the thickness.

You will need to disassemble the A arm as our trucks have heavy duty suspensions. I tried to do it your way and it didn't work unfortunately. You will also have to loosen the front say bar to get it out of your way. I think there is a video on YouTube of a guy doing it on a 4th gen.

You will also need to use the nuts provided with the kit as well as the stock one's won't work.

It's not to bad at all. Took a couple of hours but I did it with my buddy who has a shop and a lift and the right tools.

You'll either have to disassemble the UCA ball joint, or you can take out the two lower bolts that hold the LBJ to the steering knuckle. Either way will allow the LCA and the UCA to operate independently enough so that you have room to insert the spacer. I chose the latter method - up to you.

You do need to remove the sway bar - otherwise it will just be a pain.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I can't get out the easy way

I'll undo the sway bar end links and drop the lower ball joint on each side after removing the 3 bolts for the upper strut mounts. Should not be too bad.

I installed the Cornfed 1" spacer last weekend. Took just over 2hrs, I removed the skid plate, sway bar, and separated the upper ball joint to gain enough clearance. It was pretty easy, and I even took my time.

Just got done with this earlier today it took 90 minutes. I removed the sway bar end link completely because it was in the way. I unbolted the lower shock mount, and lower ball joint.

Wrestled the strut out by pressing down the arm, popped on the lift spacer and put it back together.

How was your experience ordering from Burtman industries? I did a quick google search on them, they seem to be getting a lot of negative reviews.. threads were mostly 3 years old though so I am hoping it has improved.

I had no problems with ordering from Burtman Industries. I received the kit very quickly and am very happy with the kit.

Thanks for the reply guys! That gives me the peace of mind that their service has improved. Currently doing my research on ways to level out my Limited.. Now down to two choices. Either the Cornfed or the Toytec spacers. Thoughts?

They are both spacers with 6 nuts, there is not a lot to evaluate.There are even some black ones on ebay for $32 shipped. I got the Cornfed spacers. I would get black or a dark color so they don't stick out in the fenderwell. The Cornfeds are dark in color as well.

One inch front lift kits. It is a simple spacer that sits between the strut top hat and the mount. That is it. Drop strut down a couple inches, place spacer on top, reassemble. It is a completely generic part, and does not change the ride at all.
