One of the reasons why i got back into a 4Runner

moving away from a Subaru legacy sedan (2010) to a 4runner opens up the possibility to go find fishing spots you just cant do in a car.

granted I loved the Subaru for a car albeit it got me into way to much trouble (speeding) but as I have gotten older, my priorities have changed.

at the 7:00 mark, had to stop and read the sign to make sure I wasn't trespassing and that it was legal to go fishing in this area, plus any rules the state game/fish might have in effect.

vehicles only on approved paths, no camping. had to check out the spots to make sure they where decent to fish from, don't mind the cameo's.

1st spot was good, 2nd spot good, 3rd spot was completely worthless.

all in all, picked 5 locations within a 10 mile radius via google maps to scout, 4 viable, 1 ended up being a national guard training area. transferred the locations to my garmin easily found them. big difference in quality between my 2yr old garmin and the nav in the 4runner with the thumbs up to the garmin.

4runner wouldn't give you notice until about 1/4 mile from the turn/etc, the garmin would do it at 1/2 mile and 1/4.

I have the NAV in my 2014 TEP and I still use my 7" screen Garmin nuvi 2757LM. I love it.

I had a RAM mount setup in my 03 runner with a laptop. The 7" screen on this nuvi is perfect and better than the laptop setup.

The other reason I like the nuvi is I can keep all my trip logs. I have every trip log for every trip we've ever taken and it's nice to go back an look at the logs for trips you took 10 years ago to see where you "really" went.

ive been looking at replacing my 5" for the new 7" and moving the 5" to the warden's Tacoma and giving the son the 4.3" for when he runs off to college this year.

It's awesome. I went from a nuvi 255W 4.3" to the 7".

Keep in mind, I was very accustomed to using a 15" laptop just above my shifter on a RAM mount in the '03 so it was very easy to see a lot of map real-estate and a lot of details. This 7" Garmin replaces that for me with no drawbacks. Now that's saying a lot. For a 7" device to adequately replace a 15" device. When I'm in the city I like to be able to zoom in enough to see the side street details and names. With the 4.3" screen you can see about 1/4 mile at that zoom level. With the 7" I can see 1 to 1.5 miles on either side at that same zoom level. For me, it was my wish come true. It's just enough and not too big on the dash.

I've owned every version of Delorme Street atlas USA from version 4 up through 2009 and the latest copies of MS Streets and Trips 2013 and I can tell you the Garmin map database is far superior.

The routing on the nuvi 2757LM is spot on and the turn by turn just flat works. What's really cool is the image that's shown for the exit is an actual photo of that exit.

I use a friction mount on road and then I move it to the suction cup mount under the visor when off road so I don't have any over the hood blind spots while wheeling.

Don't let the "warden" read this and you should be OK.
