oneal48's Thunder Runner

So after some advise on here as to which 4runner to build and which to sell I will be starting to build the 01'. I got it for $500 with a bad transmission. It has about 220,000 miles. Real work begins after the holidays. Here is what I'm starting out with.

Oh and I happen to have some wheels lying around to go on it after the transmission is done. I removed the stupid steps to get under it for easier access but they won't be going back on.

So after a few months of not doing anything with the 4runner I finally got a transmission today! It has 170,000 miles. But it also has a 90 day warranty. The lady who he got it from bought a whole new transmission from him after loosing her torque converter. She figured might as well. Drained the oil on both my transmission and the new one. Neither had a "pink milkshake". Dropped the pan on the new one and no shavings. I'm going to remove mine from the 4Runner tomorrow.

nice to see your continuing with the project. hope you got a good deal on that 170k mile tranny. $500 on a 4runner leave alot of extra money to fix her up :thumb:

Do us all a favor and clean the inside out ahhhh

I'll clean it out when I get it going haha. As far as the transmission, it cost me $750 with a 90 day warranty.

So between rain and work I have had one day to work on the transmission. I replaced the front pump seal and the transfer case rear output seal. Also got a new torque converter. Got the transmission in and it feels great. Got back home and I must have damaged the front pump seal. So when I have the time again ill be pulling it back out. Hopefully tomorrow but we will see. I'm just happy the transmission is good! Feeling excited and close here haha.:amen:

Well the transmission is in and it runs great! Best $500 I ever spent! Today I waxed and cleaned it. Also put some seat covers front and rear and some new floor mats.

Well today I fixed some paint on the 4Runner as best I could. It was where the old badge was. Couldn't find a perfect match locally. After doing so I painted my new emblems and put them on. Turned out ok I think. Also got a new battery.

Pulled out the front bumper with a ratchet strap today. It looks better until I have time to modify my black bumper to fit.

This is the black bumper I'll be modifying to fit. Havent had a chance to look at it yet to know how much modification it's going to require.

So this showed up today from my dad. Very excited about that. I was planning on redoing the whole front end before an alignment and now I have one more thing to add to it. Also today I put some LED's in the dome lights.

So question, I obviously need an alignment after the lift. I'm going to replace the tie rod ends before doing so, but if I get it aligned and then at a later time replace the lower ball joints will that through my alignment back out? I appreciate your help.

Taught my wife to use the cut off wheel today. She went to town on my bumper. Now she can arc weld, use a torch, and the cut off wheel.
