Alright guys I have been doing a lot of research on here and finding some good information on what I need. Im looking to do this build right the the first time as I want it so I dont finish and want to redo things and waste money. Now heres my idea, and on here I have not seen it done so any input will be welcomed. First off this is not going to be to everyones taste, but I welcome all feed back. First off its a 98 Limited, its never offroad and if it is its just dirt roads on the farm. I build my vehicles just to do something different and get some enjoyment out of them. (stock vehicles are not for me).

Truck as of right now is basically stock except for the running boards have been removed. And heres a basic list of what im looking at, and my major concerns that I have not seen done will be the wheel and tire setup.

Soran steel 1.2 lift (which is 3 inch if I read right)
2 inch body lift
Tundra brakes
04 Taco front end
Redo leather interior (some leather is cracked)
4.88 gears
Satin black paint, bumpers and all
Jaos rear spoiler (if I can find a way to redo the mounting without the brackets)
00 4runner led rear lights
All clear corners on front

Now we get to what I havent seen done

Wheels will be a 20x9 polished 5 star design
Tires will be a 35x12.5x20

Like I said this will basically only see on-road conditions, more for a show piece is what im looking. Any suggestions or problems you see in this would be appreciated.

Let me get this straight...you're going to build a 35" tire'd Taco4R monster :girl: and NOT take it off road??? :ybrick:

20X9 rims... ummm, can anyone say mall crawler.
that would be awful if you put all that money into it just to see it parked on a snow bank in front of Macy's.

If your serious about wheeling just pull the trigger on a SAS.

A 16" rim is about as big as you want to go if your serious, if not just buy a H3 hummer.

Wont be any snow banks as im in Texas. And I dont wheel, just building something to pass the time.
 
I say go for it. 20's aren't my taste at all and shouldn't belong on a 3rd gen, but those are my perferences. They won't look horrible with 35's and it will be better with the lift you chose. Be careful with the 12.50 wide tire. You need to find a wheel with less backspacing or use spacers. It might not work all that well, but as you stated it will be for on-road and not off.

I think you have a good plan for the lift and cosmetic items. You will want 01-02 tail lights not 00, just for reference. Also Jason B is making a new Jaos with different brackets that will look better, so wait for that to come out before pulling the trigger on one.

When do you plan on getting to all of this stuff? Those tires will cost you a pretty penny. Good luck!

I think it'll be interesing, but I'm not a big fan of 20" wheels on a 3rd gen. Maybe this will change my outlook though:shrug:
 
20's are definitely not my cup of tea. And 20's on 35's are a little too bro-ish for me too. That being said, this is YOUR rig and YOUR build. Seems like you were well prepared for the potential backlash. You have a vision and I do look forward to seeing the build!

Now, as far as your mods. The one thing I would suggest is to do the body lift before you do the Taco front mod. That way you can adjust the front bumper to make up for the gap and only have to mod it once.

**** you buy the parts, get me a plane ticket, and get some beer and ill be in Cali before you know it.

Dont know how to do multiple quotes yet, but the tires ive been seeing are anywhere from about 280-600 a piece depending on brand name and the look.

The taco front end, that would come very last due to the fact of the body lift and mods for the bumper.

And thanks for the info on the tails, must have read wrong somewhere.
 
i think that you should do it, never let it see dirt, and then promise to hit me up first when you decide to sell it. :hungry:
 
If you're not gonna go wheeling why spend the extra money on the beefiest lift? you could go with a cheaper 3" lift if its not gonna see any offroading
 
I dont really do cheap on any suspension setups I have on any vehicles I own or have in the past. Thats one thing I wont skimp on cause I like feeling safe and knowing its a good system makes me feel better. And supposedly what I have read on here the ride quality of the soran is better and less stiff than the ome, and someone did a write up comparing the 2 (kinda) and it seems the soran sits a little higher. I could be wrong on some of this, just going off of reading on here.

not really my kind of thing, but... i would go with one of the other sonoran steel lifts. They have good products and i would say that the less expensive ones would be as safe and comfortable as their top of the line lift.
 
So not to criticize, but I would seriously urge you to rethink the 20" tires on a lifted runner. Larger rims and lower profile tires are good for handling, but you are talking about lifting this thing, so handling is going to be crap anyway. All you are getting yourself is expensive rims and expensive tires that don't contribute anything to your vehicle.

At very least, do the tires and wheels last so you can make that decision after getting it lifted and seeing and driving it. It is a mixing of the off-road style, and the street cruiser style, which just makes the overall look awkward. It's kind of a "little of everything, good at nothing" look.

If you have the money to blow on overpriced non-functional rims and tires, you should put that into something like a supercharger instead. I bet you would be MUCH happier with a supercharger anyway. It will make a big difference in the drive, which you will notice every second you are driving it.
