Was in a hurry Saturday night (in the dark) and backed out of my garage and into my neighbor's teenage daughter's car that was parked just at the edge of my driveway. (where it normally isn't) Totally my fault. Hopefully it is just the bumper, the tail light and the slight dent in the lower left of the rear hatch.

Time for a CBI bumper!... so the next time you do this, she will need a new car. :D

Honestly that doesn't seem too bad. New bumper and light and you should be good to go. Get a claim from your insurance and if you can, do the work yourself.

Been there, done that, dude.

Backed out of a pizza place parking lot, where there were raised columns of concrete over 2 feet high that were the supports for "ONE WAY" signs...and they were painted black...in a un-lit parking lot...at night time.

Youre not alone, man.
 
I had a similar issue a while back with my family friend's Miata...

Cost me about $300-ish to replace the plastic bumper component. Unfortunetly mine was an '04 where the rear bumper is built in 3 seperate pieces. Yours is an '09 which uses a single piece for the bumper which may be a bit pricier to replace and get repainted, not to mention the taillight.

That's a bummer man, I hate when I do stuff like that... :(

For the amount of money you'll spend on a CBI bumper you could get a night vision backup camera and the best headunit available!
 
Was the other car a Civic?

The exact same thing happened to me. Car in the driveway where it shouldn't have been. Then I backed into it. My damage was less severe. I was able to just pop the dent back out and deal with a scratched bumper.
 
Ouch. At least both vehicles were not yours. My wife backed the 4R out of the garage and hit her car that was parked on the other side of the driveway :shrug:. Mine wasn't as bad though, and I was able to just pop the plastic back out and live with the scratches in the paint.
 
Just did this yesterday myself, I was backing out of the parking lot and bam, right into another car, I was able to push it out no problem and it actually looks ok. But I am gonna redo it and buy a new bumper and paint...since it had hit on the other side from the previous owner!
 
It's approx $1020 in damage, most of that cost is labor. Bumper cover, some support bracket, tail light, emblems are the only parts required. The rest is paint and labor to the rear hatch door and bumper. Should be fixed sometime next week. In the mean time I'm driving a rental 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not bad, but I do like my T4R better. The car I backed into was a newer Dodge Avenger. The height of the driveway vs where her car was on the street actually had me back into her trunk lid. She will get a new trunk lid and bumper repaint and she should be good.
