Opinion on which wheel

Hello,

I'm new to the site and this is just my second post. This site has been a great resource for me so far, so thanks. I'm doing some upgrades to my 2010 Trail Edition. I installed the SW sliders and just purchased the 2.5 OW suspension kit before they went out of business. I'll probably buy either light racing or ICON UCAs this week. Based on the responses to my first post I'll probably go with the BFG KM2s for my tires.

I hate my current wheels and after much research I decided to go with MHT Fuel Offroad Wheels. I'm down to two particular models and wanted to get some thoughts for my silver TE. The one with 5 spokes (on the left) are the Pumps, the one with the 8 spokes (on the right) are the Octanes and the third picture are of the Octanes on a silver 4runner. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the Pumps on any vehicle, which is good and bad. I'm open to other suggestions as well. Quality and design are what's important, not price:

Wheels are all personal preference. Of those two, I would go for the octanes. They look pretty sweet, not so much a huge fan of the pumps though. The pumps kind of remind me of the XD Rockstars (which I do not like). But remember, opinions are like a$$ holes and everyone is going to have one. Post up some pictures once of your ride once everything is installed. Sounds like a very nice setup.

Thanks for the feedback and I certainly know what you mean about the preference issue. I've just been looking at them for a while now and wanted to get some other thoughts before I pull the trigger. Within the next week or two I need to :toilet3: or get off the pot. Between the suspension lift, UCA, wheels, tires, installation, alignments, balancing, shipping, taxes, ect....it's about a $5000 investment. I'm trying to do it right the first time and a new set of eyes helps sometimes.

Someone made a good point of the edge of the Pumps potentionally poking into the sidewall when the tire is aired down, which I never thought of. Probably pretty unlikely but a possibility. I'm definity leaning more towards the Octanes now. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the silver screws on a black wheel. Also, I can imagine how fun it's going to be removing mud from the Octane's design. But the design and quality are good overall. If you have any other suggestions I'm all ears.

I've always liked the black Fuel Hostage wheels.

They are pretty cool, but the only thing I don't like is the silver detail. I would have liked it all black. It's like having a nice black t-shirt with silver shimmer. All the silver bolts and beading ruled it out for me. But it certainly doesn't look too bad on some 4runners I've seen with them.

If you want all black have you thought about the Konig Countersteer Type X wheels?

I didn't know about them, so thanks. I think they might look a bit too plain on the newer 4runners. But again, I appreciate the heads-up about this.

I'm planning on going with the Konig's, like you've said the other wheels have that silver detail and I want all black.

Konig's are certainly nice as well. Although the MHT Fuel Octane has a little silver, I think it will work with my Silver TE. I just paid for the OW 2.5 suspension kit today through Radflo, along with the light racing UCAs. This week I'll have to make my final decision on tires and wheels. At this point, it looks like KM2s mounted on the Octanes. Overall the set-up should function and look pretty good I think.

That seems to be the top choice at this moment. I think they should be good quality and I'll like them overall. By the way, nice car collection you have listed. I actually just sold my 2007 pearl white Acura TL Type-S. It was a blast in southern California but I'm loving my 4Runner and it's much more suitable for Central America. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the input on the wheels. I just had my 4Runner completed last night with the OW 2.5 suspension lift, Fuel Octane Rims & BFG KM2s. Here are some pictures I just snapped.

was gonna say i like the pumps (i dont like the kmc rockstars b/c of the huge star on them, not cause the overall style is bad). but the octanes look great on ur TE!
