Opinion Wanted: Bridgestone Dueler H/T D684 II for Winter?

Looking for opinion on Bridgestone Dueler H/T D684 II on winter performance.

I've read pretty much all reviews in TireRack (all 284) for this particular tire and found mixed reviews about winter usage. I would like to hear from fellow 4Runner owners who had experience using these tires during winter.

brutal tires

The OEM Bridgestones are crap. Took it to a farm for berry picking, rained the previous day, the truck was slipping and sliding and no grip at all. It was not even muddy.

Anyways, I suggest getting a real set of winters. You will see the big difference ... myself I have the Bridgestone DMV. Love this set of winters.

Personally I'm going to buy new A/T tires before the winter. I survived last winter with OEM Bridgestones - they are ok, but I want something better.

So the bottom line is that you can drive with OEM tires, just be careful and turn on 4x4 when it's geeting slippery.

As per mud - OEM tires got me through 6 inches thick mud a few times, but it was on the edge if not A-TRAC I wouldn't make it: )

You cant go wrong with Bridgestone Blizzak's DM-V1. Read there reviews and view there videos. I have had these tires for a whole winter season and was blown away. I live way up in the mountains at an elevation of 7,617 ft and snow/ice/black ice can be a regular thing. I had no issues or incidents this season (a first) with these tires.

These tires handle the slush (melted snow on the roads) surprisingly well. They are expensive, however in my opinion they are well worth it!

If your still really concerned...go with a studded tire option.

4WD is going to get you through a lot with OEMs, but I wanted the best for winter.

I could not justify replacing the oem tires for 9 months of the year of normal driving, so I opted for Blizzaks on FJ wheels. All I can say is they rock - remarkable traction as well as greatly improved stopping.
