Opinions Needed: Sell or keep brush guard

Should I sell my brush guard? Guys willing to pay $200 and help uninstall it. Im giving him free tail light guards for that. I would use that $200 and pay for installation of 6 lights (already own) for my roof rack (4 front 2 rear). Oh and possibly take the running boards off Opinions or photoshop lovers feel free to chime in.

If you think you would use the light more than the brush guard is needed, I say lose the brush guard. I would lose the running boards either way.

YOu have to reinforce it in the middle. I used two 1/4 inch thick L-iron bars to reinforce it to the front body mounts. It is now hard as a rock. I can even mount a winch on it.

Why don't you install the lights on your own and save your drill guard. It make sence if you upgrade to a REAL bull bar like TJM or ARB with that money.

I think I should do a thread on how to wire driving lights (accessories) through a relay and a fuse.

I've never been a fan of brush guards. If I had one, I'd sell it.

I agree.. I personally don't even like the fat lip bumpers.. I rather have the old style bumper!

If you look at my build thread I had a brush guard on at first. It looked good to me but I kinda lean toward the damage multiplier theory. The owner before me hit something and the brush guard dented both fenders and the hood. I think just the bumper would have been dented if it hadnt been on there.

From the front view that brushgaurd looks great but from the side it sticks out allitle to far with that fat lip bumper. I wouldn't go as far as to say your rigs gonna look better without it as it does at an aggressive look. Think its sixes! I do know that grill and rear guards are a heck of alot more than 200 new. I for sure wouldnt ditch your running boards like everyone on the forum recommends. If your into heavy offloading yeh but I think they add a nice finishing touch especially on the limiteds with body cladding. If you pull em it just kinda dates the vehicle and looks plain and allitle like a base model to me. My opinion anyway. I think I'd pull off all those brushgaurd myself and ask $300!!!

3) take it to a tire shop and reverse the tires so the lettering is hidden (totally worth the $60)

Removing the running boards gives the T4R an instant 2 inch lift appearance! From grocery getter to baddass 4x4…sorta...

Yeah it has always bugged me that this brush guard didnt sit "flush" because it sticks out by about 3-4 inches. It was only about $250 new with $100 to install so if I can get $200 back out of the $350 think its worth it..

Anyones opinion on adding spot lights to the roof with the cash?

Lights are very easy to wire up. All you need is wire, fuse, relay and a switch. Look at online wiring diagrams for wiring lights. The hardest part is hiding the wires. If you can read the diagram, cut, splice and crimp wire connectors, you can wire up lights..

Most of them are damage multipliers. And that's because of the top mounting points usually just bolt to the radiator support sheet metal, thin up-rights and tubing and poor welds. The heavy duty brush guards like Ranch Hand, are pretty strong. My dad found a heavy duty no name brush guard at our local metal yard for his Dodge 2500, I picked up some 3/8" plate from welding class and built some brackets for it. And I guarantee that brush guard was just as strong as a plate bumper. That thing was stout and at least 85 pounds.

sell it. It looks silly, like nerf bars. It is a style accessory, primarily cosmetic. Its only real function is aesthetics.

I believe there is a plate bumper thread that is quite popular right now.. might be a good place to start when youre done messin around with the basics :whipping2:
