opinions on 255/85

I ran 39 for awhile in my 255/80/17 ST Maxx, then dropped to 37, and now dropped to 35. Probably should have started at 35 or lower. Over the 75k+ miles I've had them I'm getting a tad more center wear than outer wear.

The chalk test told me 39 though...

I go 3-5 psi below chalk test to account for tire pressure increase as tires warm up from driving.

I've had 3 sets of Dick Cepek EC 255/85-16, now I'm trying Maxxis Bighorn 255. I've always run 32 psi with good wear results. The 3GT4R is a very, very light vehicle for these E-range tires.

Sure thing. Keep in mind im running 1.25" spacers up front so I can fit the Tundra brakes

Currently its the old size 265/75 which barely fits. I don't think 255/85 would fit unless it was pretty much flat and even then it might be a struggle. I'm gonna figure out a solution for a spare in the coming months

I have a Toytec 2.5in lift and jba uca and have been running stock 265/70/r17. My plan was to go 255/80/r17 Nitto ridge grapplers...but seeing yours I'm re-thinking ..once again. lol...going to look at 85s now.

Regarding the spare:
A 255/85-16 MT tire will not fit with the factory hitch, airing down and putting
a ratchet strap around it won't get it fit either. You might be able to get it to fit with a factory bumper but no hitch, I haven't tried. I have a Savage bumper that is identical from a spare tire fit standpoint, so I currently have a 215/85-16 spare (~31"), but will be fitting a 235/85-16 (~32") very soon. If you need to run an unequal size spare for very long on pavement(a few hundred miles), put it on the front axle and shift to rear wheel drive.

Regarding tire pressure:
I've been running 32psi for years with these tires, BUT, I have a full set of steel skid plates, rock sliders, and I'm always loaded up for 1-2 weeks of camping, including ~10 gallons of water. If it was a DD running unloaded, I'd probably be at 30 or even 28 psi

Maxis Bighorn MT 255/85-16, OEM 3rd gen alloy wheels. If you really, really wanted to optimize the tires to match the Limited flares, then use 1.25" spacers in front, and 1" spacers in the rear. I have 1.25" spacers all around.

It Depends on which 265 it is also. The grabbers only fit if I install it a certain way. The Kanati’s were easier to fit in the spare location.

I highly doubt you could fit a 255/85 with the hitch.

I had a 255/75/17 under mine at one point. It was very close, but did fit. There are different factory hitches too so keep that in mind.

255/80r17 fit just fine! Somehow I don't rub with the fender liners and some custom mud flaps in. Also fits in the spare location when aired down to 12 psi or so. Just barely rubs the panhard bar.

I 11/10 recommend the Falken Wildpeak AT3w's except in clay

Amazing road ride and rain traction, snow traction, dirt/rock traction. Current treadwear (I have 29k miles so far) with my set of 5 is looking like I may get 100k miles when they reach 4/32"

The more I look from a distance the more stock size they look. I had a Subaru with 30s on it and you could tell those were nowhere near stock. I dont wanna say im disappointed but I am kinda let down. Im just glad I didn't go with 285/75 cause those are smaller than these

So I flexed the shit out of the truck this weekend to the point that I was teetering and the tires fit extremely well after some cutting and sledge action. I will have to take 2 inches off my rear bumper but thats only cause it hangs lower since it was hit there previously. Overall this size is perfect for me.
