Opinions on Highway Tires that Are Good in Snow

I hate to bring up another "which tire" thread, but, here we go. I am currently running Nokian Vattiiva tires. Supposedly, these are an A/T tire, but they had a 60k mile warranty. They are heavily siped, and not surprisingly, they were great in snow when new. However, I have less than 30k miles on the tires and they need to be replaced already.

I do not do much off-road driving, but snow and ice is an issue every winter, which is why I went with the Nokians in the first place. However, I am really disappointed with their lifespan. Also, dedicated snow tires are not in the budget at this time.

Any suggestions on a set of tires that will handle snow and ice while also providing reasonable on-road comfort and, especially, greater tread life than 30k miles?

I might see what I can get on a prorated warranty for the Nokians, but it may not be worth the hassle, especially if that particular dealer doesn't have other tires that interest me.

GoodYear Wrangler Silent Armor would be your best choice. They are excellent A/T tire which also severe weather rated and handle well in snow/ice. 60k mile warranty as well and they will easy get there according to numerous reviews.

After my Michelen Cross Terrians wore out I went with LTX's. They are better in the snow, are known to last and are slightly cheaper. I had a friend with over 90,000 miles on them. I also think they are a good highway tire, to me about the same as the Cross Terrians.

My LTX's are doing great, I only have 40,000 miles, but they look new to me.

2 comments . I belong to a local fishing forum and several of the guys said the same about the Nokian wear . I agree with the comment about the Michelins , definitely worth the extra few bucks .
