Opinions on this '88?

I am seriously considering this rig. I've only worked on 3rd gens and know quite a bit about them but when it comes to classics, I don't know sh*t! Not sure if the concepts are the same and what not, but if any of you guys could help me out with this that would be great! Does this look like a half decent truck to buy? I've contacted the seller and asked a few questions (including mileage). Let me know what you all think.

AD: 1988 Toyota 4runner , 22re, 4x4, 5-speed, lots of new parts

It has the right combo, 22RE + 5-Speed.
The new parts are nice, but it's still going to be 25 years old. It's going to be a big difference going from your 1999 to a 1988.

Personally, either hold out for a 5-speed 3rd gen or a 1985 with a solid front axle.

You never cease disappoint me to be the first one with a quick response. Thanks! and yeah, I seriously dont know much about 1st gens. And also have a lot of parts for a 3rd gen.

Assuming that it drives straight and doesn't make any funny noises, that's probably an $1800-$2000 truck around these parts. Trucks sell for more in your area, so it could be a good deal.

i agree with fourwd1 too much for around here, I paid 2000.00 for my 88` and it was exceptionally clean i had to put tires on it and that was it. keep looking and if you can find a 85or 86 all the better. just my 2cents

Again just 2 cents worth ) it sounds good in the add but you got to look it over for sure ( rust ) I would tell the seller the extra rims and tires are a must and would shoot for 2k or under. If you do pick it up I have an 86 parts runner in my yard. I might be able to help with the missing stuff and what not. Just let me know.
