Truly not trying to be a smart ass or just an ass in general, but if you don't have time to "figure it out" how do you have time to off road? It's much easier to sit on here and research than to find time to get out onto trails... much cheaper too. Regardless, make sure you spend the time finding what you want, and how to avoid things like rubbing. If "more power" is a concern, and pulling the camper is a priority over rock crawling, then the GX would actually be a great option, it has a bigger engine. Not saying it can't rock crawl, just saying I wouldn't risk damaging a brand new Lexus like that. I would much rather spend $50k+ on a Lexus than a 4runner.

Good advice, but I hope you understand it's difficult to post my entire story. Oh, and thanks for being cool. First of all I live near Cape Hatteras and most of my off roading would be the beach here. But I want the ability to go elsewhere. Every fall I take time off and I bring my 4x4 out and chase the hurricane swells with buddies. Sometimes it's 1 swell, sometimes it's 4 swells and sometimes none in any given season. So I will use the off road, but it wouldn't be as demanding as rock crawling. And I've wanted a 4runner for years. If I get a Lexus it would be the car after I buy the nice 4x4 I want. Unless there is some real obvious reason to do it, but I don't see that yet. Now that the S/C isn't an option I'm not spending $50k on a 4runner.
And instead of doing all the work researching the best suspension lift, etc. I would love to show up at a dealer and have them show me a couple of good options. That's how I handle my clients. I show them the options and what I think is best for their price range. But that's not what I am getting. Hey, I can dream can't I? Maybe I'm just expecting a little more than is normal and that is why I reached out here. To find guys/girls to point me in the right direction. And it paid off immediately with the "There is no supercharger." Not to mention the sweet pictures these guys posted of the Inferno TRD Pros. That helped a lot. Thanks for continuing to help though. I just don't see the GX460 working. But I am trying to be open-minded.

Of course you have every right to do whatever you want. The point is normally people are not willing to be ripped off. As I know, Lexus 460 probably is capable to do everything that a 4runner trd pro can do if is not more. I personally like the appearance of T4R better than the Lexus. However, if I have to throw 50k, I would choose the Lexus without thinking twice. If you had time to compare the feature/option list for both SUVs, you probably would do same. It is all about getting your hard earned money worth. :drummer:But again, you have the right to do whatever that makes sense to you.

I can't believe you guys got me seriously considering the GX 460. I looked and it looks like there may be trouble lifting though... dear heavens please don't blast me because I have done VERY LITTLE research. Just quick google search.

I actually don't know, I haven't tried looking. That was in the back of my mind though. It has the same frame, I wonder how similar the suspension would be.

My neighbor has the Inferno TRD Pro Tundra, and I have to say, it looks a lot more like a rust/burnt orange in person. More like this:

Whereas most of the pictures and videos I see of the Inferno color are red, almost like the Trail Teams radiant red (like the s-runner in my avatar) but with pearl. Even the early pic posted in this thread looked as red as the "TRD" written in the center caps.
Maybe it's just my monitor, but I wanted to weigh in regarding the color in person. I've seen it in all sorts of daylight, too.
That hurts my feelings.

They are 2010+ so I don't know if that helps? I haven't seen any of the new body styles lifted yet.

Honestly not being a douche: you want to spend $50K on a rig to drive it thru salt water??? :wow2: Not sure how long it will last. Take a look at page 21 of this issue of Unsealed 4x4 from Australia. The article is the "10 things that will ruin your 4x4": #1 Salt water baths. UNSEALED 4X4 ISSUE 011
Not sure the problem with doing a 3" OME or other aftermarket suspension system (ICON, Ironman 4x4, Radflo), if your going more then your looking at driveline changes etc.

Wow, there have been a lot of helpful people here. This ended much better than it began. I am torn and this has been going on a little while. I really thought I was decided then the dealership gave me that curve ball. Now Orlyg has me thinking about that fact that I am being a primary vehicle, but I will be tormenting it on a beach and fighting the rust will be a big challenge. I can do it, but it will be a challenge. That was also my problem with the Lexus and I discussed it with my wife yesterday. I'm going to get a Lexus as a primary vehicle and ultimately (if not initially) modify it for the beach and then have a primary that will be car???? Seems crazy to make a BAMF Lexus. But I understand I shouldn't limit the options if it really works. I guess I'll just think on it for a while and post here again for help (ignoring the douche).
I really appreciate all the people that helped me move towards a decision. I still like the 4runner exterior looks better than any of my other options... :fro:

How about a Toyota Landcruiser 70 gray-market import?
Make sure to get one with a snorkel, we wouldn't want you to go girlie on us.
(This is only half sarcasm, I wish I could, but I have no effing idea on how does one do a gray-market import on a vehicle that probably doesn't meet various U.S. federal standards. Wife might have an issue on spending that too.)

I was just reading on that Lexus forums about the airbag suspension being an issue when lifting the GX460. You can remove the airbag suspension, but it might be something you should look into before you buy it.
