Ordered a lift! Bilstein 6112/5100 combo

Did a ton of research on here and finally ended up pulling the trigger on a lift.
Going with Bilstein 6112 in front and 5100 w Wheeler/Eibach 1.5" springs in back.

Got everything from Wheeler's Offroad... so now I just have to wait.

Anyone have experience with this setup... especially self install?

Anyone know a decent install place in the Dallas/Forth Worth area?

I'm running this setup. Wasn't too keen on the 5160s just yet so when it was time to upgrade went to 6112s and kept the 5100s. Great set up for the money. I'm running toytec Superflex coils in the rear. Have about 2.5 in front and 3 inches in rear for lift. No UCAs.

Nice, this is the setup I've decided to go with. I'm going to set them at 1.85" and get cornfed 1" spacers for the rear. Not to keen on spacers but I haven't been able to find 1" springs and I don't want too much rake.

I'm running this setup as well with stock rear springs. I have the front 6112s at max height and I think it rides great. Probably a little stiff for other people's liking or maybe not. The rear feels great on bumps in the road and the slight off-roading I've done. Still have yet to throw on my superfelx coils. Not until I get larger tires. I got the full 2.5" of lift and then some on the passenger side.
Installed myself so no shop help here.

If you're looking to install yourself, take some time to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=i-QFyFUxP0Q
Big help with no spring compressor.

I had to let the skid plate hang down (13mm bolts) in order to loosen the front control arm bolts and/or nut. Those are 22mm bolts.

How is your alignment with the 2.5" up front and no UCA?

You should get it aligned ASAP. At least the camber and toe to eliminate uneven tire wear.

You do want to drive it for a hundred miles or so to let the suspension settle so when you get the alignment done it doesn't change on you. That amount of miles shouldn't affect your tires.

I have never heard this.
Mine was done at the same shop, same time, and it hasn't moved any!

YMMV

Yeah, I do intend to. Like said up above, I just wanted the spring to settle. And they actually did to where I tore the suspension apart again and moved it to the max setting.
I just wish I knew if I wanted to throw a spacer in there to even it out with the rear once I throw the toytec springs in there. Paying for two possible alignments .

Did you run into any alignment issues? It's been 2 or 3 weeks for me and still haven't gotten it aligned. Planning to use my stock UCA as well.
No issues with alignment since I kept it under 3 inches in the front.

No issues. Had a good shop in DC do the alignment. I initially took it to a yota dealer to do it but they didn't know how to align a lifted vehicle. They tried to use stock alignment specs.

I have a similar set up, but used 1" cornfed spacers for the rear.

In front, I set my 6112's (2nd Gen) at 1.85" lift:
  • Circlip #5 for the driver side
  • Circlip #4 for the passenger side

I live in the Dallas area (McKinney) and was originally going to have BaerTrax (HOME - BAERTRAX) do the install (they specialize in Toyota's), but I ended up just having Pat Lobb Toyota in McKinney do the install + alignment. Total price for install was $524 (not sure if this is high or not, but I don't have the tools to do the job myself, or the experience).

I installed 5100 in the front @ 1.75" and 1" cornfed spacer in rears. Toyota did alignment under warranty. Apparently we have free alignments until 12,000 miles?

I have my 6112s set at 6/5 and I'm getting about 2.25" in the front. 5160 with OEM coils is adding about .85" to the rear.. I will be installing my Wheelers Off-road T13 coils later this month...

I think it would be well served if, when talking about Circlip grooves, that the distinction of 1st or 2nd Generation 6112's are mentioned.... This may help avoid any confusion.

The 5160's in the rear shouldn't add any height unless you added spacers or changed the springs.

I agree, the 5160's will add "0.0" lift to the rear, period.
If it is any higher, drive it around the block, let the shocks settle or you've done something wrong!

First gen 6112's on the front and 5100's on the back and no complaints.

After 10 months with a winch on the front mine did settle down quiet a bit.

Second groove.
