I have a paddle like switch right above my cd player and below the ac controls does anybody else with an 86 4Runner know what this was originally used for? My 4Runner was rewired really weird and it sometimes doesn`t start because something has drained all the battery power. I`m having trouble finding the electrical drain and since this switch makes my passenger side window go up and down regardless of whether my key is in the ignition or not I think it might be the drain. I think knowing it`s original purpose might help the mechanic to find the right wires faster.

From the looks of the other hole adjacent to the switch in question, I'd say there were a pair of them installed at one time. They kinda look like auxilliary, external light switches, but maybe a previous owner used them to replace bad door switches.

I`ve installed a Battery Brain to disconnect my battery without messing with cables and it seems to be working for the most part. I`d bring it to a shop but most mechanics refuse to work on it because my wiring would take hours to go through.
The first guy who worked on my car told me the harness and connector were cut and there`s no way the window will work without it so I`m just going to have to live with it. That was before I realized this switch controlled the window and it worked.

The location of that switch is where the antenna switch usually goes on 1st gen's that had power antenna's.
