ouch....static!

Again guys, there is absolutely no reason for straps, sprays or any other useless crap.

Just touch a metal part on the door BEFORE your foot hits the ground and there will be NO STATIC SHOCK.

Why must every simple thing on here be made so complicated?

I guess I can take the aluminum foil helmet and crotch protector I made from Reynolds Wrap off now when I drive. :p

This happened with my old Altima and most rental cars, yet seems to be worst with my 4R. I've always told my wife it's due to my "electrifying personality". It was bud enough that I (and sometimes my wife) saw a spark jumped from the 4R to my hand and sometimes elbow when I reach to shut the door.
JUST DO WHAT NORTHOF49 SAID. By now it's like second nature to me.

The static shocks annoyed me at first, but I barely notice them these days. I've just gotten in the habit of touching the back of my hand or wrist to the door as I'm getting out, then I just close the door normally. The pop isn't as annoying on the back of your hand as opposed to a fingertip. I find that quicker and easier than always trying to make sure I'm touching metal as I'm stepping out.
Exactly what I'm getting in the habit of doing. Figer tips are more sensative, and it's more shocking as a surprise. So, just develop the "back-handed" habit!

....what a 'shocking' subject....here I was thinking I just had the problem with getting zapped all the time....I will make myself get used to touching metal as I exit my 4Runner. I seem to remember my sister's little Mazda V6 Precida having little oval rubber touch pads on the door skins which I was told were for touching to dissapate the charge when getting out....is or was that fact?....

This static thing is so funny! Sometimes I have both arms full of things and can only mangage to get the T4R's door close with my elbow. This is not a problem in the summer but during the winter I am wearing a jacket/coat. Anyways, the charge stays with me until I enter my doorkey into the house lock and then......................ZAP! It stills makes me flinch a bit at times.

leather seat static

I am getting a lot of static in my clothes with my leather seats. Is there any wipes or spray for leather to eliminate static?
