Hey all, My fiance had a 2004 Acura TL with 171k on the clock. I loved that car, as did she. We wanted to drive it for another couple of years, but the transmission suddenly crapped the bed. I sold it as is and she decided she wanted an SUV.
I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. It has a 360 V8 with a 3 inch lift, minor performance mods and all the goodies. It was the fastest SUV in the world in 1998. It has been off-road, raced in the quarter mile (14.6), and on the beach. She is my baby. I love Jeeps (not all... new Cherokee is barf, Patriot and Compass are pathetic).
She showed interest in the newer Grands but I told her that we would only finance a Japanese car. Toyota has always been my favorite car company in terms of reliability, cost of ownership, and residual value. I have always had a profound respect for 4Runners and she seemed to love them as well. We found this 2011 SR5 with all the goodies, including leather, heated seats, moonroof, backup camera, etc.
We drove 3 hours to get her on Long Island. I have to say, I love it. It could use a little more power, but it is really smooth. I have watched numerous videos and read a lot of articles on this puppy. We are extremely happy. I am a teacher and a detailer/shadetree mechanic, so I plan on spending a lot of time with this 4Runner.
It has 41,000 miles Silver on Black. It looks like a great community on these forums!
