Pics to follow, but i had to let you guys know that my wife and i finally found our 4runner so i wanted to thank the people who helped us. We ended up finding an 08 with 18000 miles, one owner, in white sr5 trim with my wifes employee pricing of 500 over invoice. More than we wanted to spend, but we plan on keeping it a long time so we think we got a good deal...It was just sad trading in the 96 limited....so many memories....but they gave us a good deal and i hadnt had any buyers so it was worth it all together. Now one question for you guys. This is a certified used vehicle so it has 5 years left on the powertrain. Do you guys think getting the wrap warranty for 1250 is worth it? It would cover the electronics and basically everything else the powertrain doesnt cover. It would also be a 5 year warranty. Or do you guys think that you really dont need the extra warranty? We have until tomorrow at noon to decide. I always hear those warranties are rip offs, and i know toyotas are great cars but is it a good idea or not? Also i plan on lifting it so im sure that would at least void the suspension aspect if not more. Anyone have any experience with that? Thanks in advance and ill get some pics up soon!

I wouldnt get the extra warranty...

Years ago I use to do a lot of contract work for dealerships and I got to know how things work over there... Those exteneded warranties are a huge rip-off, the dealer buys them for a couple hundred bucks and then sells them for thousands... huge money in that stuff... Then depending on the warrant company it could be a pain to get anything fixed under that...

When I purchased my 4R used certified, I got them down to 350 bucks from 2500 for the extended warranty... I never was going to purchase it but I like screwing with the stealership.. It just shows how much they rip people if your not careful..

The only extended warranty worth getting is one that is from the manufacture.. I have read through the entire Toyota used certified warranty booklet and it is a really good warranty... It covers bumper to bumper for 1000mi it states, so just make sure you work every feature right away and if everything is in working order I'd say you probaly wont have any other problems than what the certified warranty will cover...

Congrats on your new 4R, enjoy!, I love mine!

If you do buy it, make sure it's the Toyota extended warranty from Toyota Financial Services. There are few different types of coverage available and ranging from zero deductible to $50.

Third party aftermarket warranties usually require a deductible and you pay for the repairs out of pocket and then seek reimbursement.

The one they were offering was called a wrap. It was the one from Toyota financial services. It was 1250 to buy it. That one was the bumper to bumper. Is that worth getting? Which warranty do you mean by certified warranty? The 3 year 36000 mile one or the one from toyota financial?

Here are some pics from today sorry about the wait

Unfortunately I didn't consult the WWW before getting the extra warranty on my certified truck - but it's okay - it needed a new master cylinder so it was well worth getting in terms of how much money it's saved us.

(I'm still a bit pissed at the stealership though for selling something so blatantly marked up, so if you can go and get one of the $600ish deals that people here seem able to get then go for it :) )
