Sharp eyes! Yes, this was the last trip to wear out the AT20's. I posted these to back up the trail descriptions for JB. I'm headed to Jasper, Canada in June so I'll have a slew of new ones coming.
EDIT...i didn't realize this was over 6 years old!
i don't know if you went towards durango at all...but that's where i'm from...when i was in college at fort lewis i had a job driving a big uhaul style delivery truck with a tommy lift...i had to deliver ice to all the restaurants, bars, and the grocery store in silverton. i've driven from durango to ouray more times than i can count...beautiful area!

Holy thread resurrection Batman. LOL, I'm back after a 3 year absence. Nothing serious, but life happens.
As of Monday, I now have a 2014 Trail Premium in Super White. We're going back to Ouray in late June so I'll have a new thread/trip report coming which is why I'm posting here and from PM's I've gotten. I'll post more about the new ride with pics in the appropriate place. Nice to be back.

The one cautionary note I would inject here would be to exercise extreme caution on these trails during heavy rainstorms. The San Juans are very slide prone when heavy rain occurs in a relatively short period of time. I can recall going over Imogene from Telluride to Ouray, then Engineer to the turn off to Cinnamon, then through Animas to California to Hurricane to Corkscrew to 550 to Ophir and then back to Telluride during some heavy rainstorms one year and to say it got a bit sketchy would be a huge understatement. Corkscrew was downright scary with all the slides across the trail. Shortly after we went through where the turnoff is coming down from Hurricane to get to Corkscrew someone in a rented jeep was killed when a boulder the rain had dislodged came crashing through the roof. We had planned on getting back to Telluride via Black Bear on that outing but there was no way I was going to risk it in those conditions. It doesn't happen often but when it does be careful.

True story, but you can expect it to rain pretty much every afternoon in the summer but it's usually not too bad. It's actually kind of nice. You spend all morning getting muddy and then you get a quick free rinse in the late afternoon. We've been going 3-4 times a year for about 25 years and we've only been caught in one real heavy down pour going up Engineer. We waited about 20 minutes and it passed.
You're right about the slides in rainy conditions. Rain makes everything more dangerous there.
You've got to keep your head screwed on all the time on every trail in the Ouray area. But I'd tell every one that on a sunny day there too.

Congrats on the 2014 TE, but are your sure it's not a year 671 model?
That's the model year produced by dividing the same way you apparently did to come up with a "3" year absence.:thumb3:

Hi JB! LOL, busted. I was not a math major and I did the math in my head. Big mistake, my head only has a 2 digit display.:help:
