Its raining out, its cold and im waiting for a movie (Inside Job)to download so i figured id ask for the fine advice of you guys.:infidel:
bought a set of tires on line and had them installed locally at a big o tire. First balance didnt go well so on the 2nd try Big O had to use a gps 7000 to force balance all four tires. the force results were one tire at 5 lbs, two tires @ around 15lbs and one outlier @25 lbs. The 25lbs outlier was installed at the passenger rear. At this point ive paid out about $150 bucks. The ride (tire hop of the outlier) was pretty bad so after around 400 miles on the tires i called the internet place i bought the tires and told them about the force balance results and they said had to go to the manufacturer to have the tires warrantied. So i call the manufacturer, they say we'll warranty the tires have big o , whos a dealer of theres, contact us. So i call big o and ask them to call the manufacturer, this was monday. Wundering if big o is blowing me off b/c i didnt buy the tires from them I call back the manufacturer and ask how they compensate dealers when they do warrenty work. Turns out the manufacturer doesnt reinburse the dealer any labor or part costs.
So the options are:
1) Cheap and low risk: ask for one tires to replace the 25 lbs tire and done with it. hope the tires dont get worse.
2) Moderate and higher risk then #1: Ask for all four tires to be replaced under warrenty. Pay for a 3 third or possibly 4th install of same tires.
3) Moderate to High Cost but low risk.return the tires, get reinbursed the prorated value of the 4 tires, and pay the difference for a new set from big o.
