outside temperature

alright guys, did some searching but to no avail. I have a limited with the digital climate control. Many of the buttons work intermittently, but the outside temp always works. Problem is, it only displays -- for the temp. Could the temp sensor need replacing? Where is it located? Also, our mirrors have the built in compass, and looks like they could display temp as well like in many other vehicles. Is there a way to go about this? I'm not usually one to worry about the small things like this but I'm just curious. Any thoughts?

Did you get it solved? Howmuch did a new sensor cost? Did the mirror show you the outside temp or just the HVAC (Heater Vent A/C) control? Thanks.

I actually haven't got around to fixing it yet. I still need to see if I can locate the sensor and find a way to test it. I'm not sure if it's the sensor or just the HVAC control. This is truly the only thing I don't like about my Limited, the digital air crap. I just want a knob back.

The sensor sits near the driver side bumper bracket near the a/c condenser. You should have easy access to it once the grille is removed.

Update- I finally crawled under there to check, and it looks like the sensor was removed and the connecting pigtail has been taped up and taped to the non working fog light wire harness. Maybe I'll get around to ordering one someday, but probably not.

hey you guys know if it's the sensor that reads in F or C or is it the computer that converts the information into the desired temp reading?

i got a god darm canadain model that reads in C, 8c, means nothing to me, i want it to read 46F (i hate decimals in my temps and give me my temps in 1 degree increments/finer resolution please)

so long story short can i swap sensors and get F or do i have to swap teh whole bloody unit or computer?

My first guess would be since you have a limited, you (like me) also have the digital set up. I think the readout unit (F or C) is in the digital HVAC control. Probably not the sensor. It would probably involve getting a whole new U.S. unit.
