Hi everyone, I just picked up a 96 runner 3.4 auto SR5 4x4 a few weeks back body needs rockers but that it frame is solid lots planed for this rig ill post updates as I move though this Build. first things to take care of are the rockers, brakes (front tundra upgrade) ball joints cv's ,compete rear brakes (axles seals are leaking) rear wheel bearings and seals. It already has new bilstein's and new coil springs all around 2' lift front And 3". I scored a set of 17" FJ rims for cheap and ordered a set of 5 255/85R17 BFG MT Ko2's. I'ev started on a set of rock sliders and im thinking im going to order up front and rear bumps from Coastal offroad this week ( I like the high clearance they provide and saves me some fab time too)

Cheers Mike

I would check the frame thoroughly. It rusts from the inside out and I'd say you almost never see the rockers rusting badly without the frame being bad as well. Better to do that before dumping a bunch of time, money and effort into it.

Not my first rodeo with a 3rd gen runner. Did a full inspection of the frame and body other then some surface rust at the back the frame is good. I used a bore scope to look inside the frame, rockers are the only thing that are gone on this whole runner I was really surprised how good the frame is, but yes you are right normally the frames are toast by the time the body rust out like this one.

Definitely sounds like a thorough inspection to me!

Finished up the rockers and sliders last night I also did the rear wheel bearings, seals and replaced the drums, shoes and hardware kit. I ordered my basic bumpers kits from coastal offroad too,I should see those in about 3 weeks. I also got 2 of my FJ rims painted up new tires should be here tomorrow 255/80R17 BFG MT km2 flavor

My coastal offroad bumpers showed up on sunday and I got a few minuets to start tackling the rear bumper. All in all I like it, but it would be a lot better if a few of the parts were bent up on a press brake rather then having to weld every joint. it would make it a lot stronger and less distortion or at least tab them together for better fitment
