I'm down to meet. I love talking trucks! I have been building this thing out for over 3 years and I'm pretty much done with it. So far I have done a full week in Death Valley. One day I want to double that

Maybe long travel the trailer :-o haha I've taken it to superstition and it did okay, I need a swivel hitch to give it articulation. I got bored of riding the quad while others were in their vehicles lol

i cant wait for my son to be able to enjoy the outdoors. hes 17 months right now and likes playing in the sand of course but hes like whateves while riding with me lol

My boys were there the other day when I had to engage 4Low after missjudging how slippery this little dirt road was. My older one is turning 2 tomorrow. He is getting close to adventure ready. Loves riding in the truck, though his patience for long trips haven't been tested yet.

I been eying Covington Flats in Joshua tree as our first overland outing. Sadly it is closed now due to rains they got.

I download "offline areas" of places I plan to visit on google map. Then save points of interest / coords. When cell service is gone, the saved info are still visible and you can still see your location on the map.

I am eying a trip to Covington Flats (both lower and upper) when the area re-opens. It looks really easy though from what I hear but I am fine with that to start.

They actually aren't very thick. I'm thinking 3 or 4 foot sections. I think the ramps are 8 feet long so 1 ramp would be 1 set. My only concern is if they're wet or muddy, rubber + metal don't tend to work well so I'll probably hit it with some bed liner. Dunno. I should dig them out and cut one up.

Haven't really dug into traction mats because the pricing is just insane. I'm not typically out solo and the only time I've been stuck is because I high centered my skid on a boulder that I didn't see. I'll cut up and bed line these loading ramps before spending 80 bucks on anything, haha.

thats a good idea. ill keep this updated for when i decide to do the trip. hopefully soon. is anybody going to Tierra del sol safari? we could probably plan it for then. meet up in ocotillo by the 8 freeway and drive through the desert to truckhaven in anza borrego where the event will be held.

haha thats true. usually traction ramps are like $300 for the max trax. the smitty bilt ones are about $150. i havent actually ever had to need them. maybe i should save that money for gears lol

Next step will be to export the KML and load it into my hand held GPS unit. I also have multiple maps of the area which I am studying along with this.

I know this is basically just a back yard adventure but I like to be prepared. :usa2:

Hello. is there a way to get from ocotillo near the 8 freeway to truckhaven? id like to do a 2 day trip and id rather go on a trail than camp somewhere and off road. id like to do longer trips in the future, this would be a test run close to home. maybe get halfway and setup camp or something like that. i know theres a bunch of trails out there but trying to see how to connect them to get to the training center. thanks in advance
