So it looks likely that my company will be moving me down to the Orange County area this summer. Can any locals give me an overview of neighborhoods/areas/etc. Primarily interested in housing/drivetime info at the moment.

^ what he said. Orange county is HUGE and could take 2 hours in traffic from one end to the other.

I'm partial to my neighborhood the beach. Safe, secure just a pain in the summer when the inlanders invade the beach and crowd the streets.
Orange County has it all, surf in the morning snow ski in the afternoon. Great restaurants, good private schools for the kids.
Downside to Orange County it's loaded with F'**** liberals who despise the 2nd Amendment. Limited gun exposure.

Sorry, more detail - they're looking at buildings within a 15 minute drive from John Wayne, and I'm willing to be about a half hour away from that.

So Costa Mesa/Tustin/Irvine. Nice areas, just steer clear of Santa Ana unless you're willing to pay 900k for the old ranch style homes.

Yeah, definitely looking for house, possibly a townhouse. Gotta have a 2 car garage and a decent sized back yard for the dog. Undecided on buy vs. lease at the moment.

I have lived in Costa Mesa (about 15min from John Wayne) and it has been a great place to live and grow up. As mentioned above, I would suggest staying away from most of Santa Ana, Tustin and Irvine are also awesome places, have many friends that live in both. The thing that I love most about Costa Mesa is that it is 20 minutes tops from the beach (I surf almost daily). And generally speaking, it is cheaper to buy a house. Let me know if you have any specific questions I can answer!

I work over at Fletcher Jones Mercedes Benz in Newport, less than 5 minutes from John Wayne.
