Owner input on their Rock Sliders

I would echo [MENTION=80024]STX4Runner[/MENTION]'s comments on the RROs. I have the super sliders, I like the lower profile look, and they have definitely done their job with a couple of dings. I had some issues with the mounting brackets on mine and they did a great job of dealing with it, so i can recommend their customer service too.

I love mine... Shrockworks custom steps:
Likes: They look great! They work great as a step, haven't tested them on the trail but don't have doubts. No dislikes really, so far.
Installation wasn't too bad once you find your starting point. If you have an LE, XREAS lines can be tricky... I think the same for KDDS.
No rust yet, but that can be remedied by some touch up paint.
Step usability A+++ .. Here's a pic and a video of my son climbing in:

Still have decided on a set but I'm pretty much down to these five (in my rating order so far). Starting on a little aggregate list of the sliders. I still have a lot of "Unknowns" to figure out.

Since you haven't decided I just thought I would give you my 2 cents worth.
I have the Metal Tech OPOR sliders and installed them about 3 weeks ago. I was torn between those and the Rocky Road super sliders.
Likes:
-Decent price if you go with bare metal and either paint yourself or have PC'd locally (I had them PC'd)
-Very beefy, about 55lbs each (just a guess based how they feel, I didn't actually weigh them)
-Decent amount of area to step on up front and a decent bump-out at the rear
-Easy to mount up with a hydraulic jack (I mounted both of them in about an hour by myself)
-Fit and finish are great, they mount nice and flush under to the body and rocker area with a very slight upward angle to the step portion
Dislikes:
-None yet, I am happy with my selection.

You are not going to find a set that is both super light and very durable. The reality is that most sliders just work and will be within 20lbs total weight. They are almost all up high enough on the outside to where they are higher than the frame rails.
I would just go with a reputable company that does quality stuff. Can't think of any bad ones mentioned here.
Your armor will take way more hits than your sliders. Be concerned with your lower links and the lower link brackets. Those were the first things I banged up and damaged on the trail. Sliders have taken a few minor hits because it is hard to abuse them until you replace the front bumper ;-)

I have the Rocky Road super Sliders and am happy overall. I had Rocky Road make them a little shorter in the front to clear my mudflaps (No extra charge). I also added 3/8" plates behind where they mount to the frame to push the sliders out a little more for a little bit of becoming a step. Seems to work quite well.I can tell you that after 4 years on the truck even thou powdercoated they became pretty RUSTY when you looked under the car area of the Sliders. I removed them sanded, applied POR 15 and repainted. Now they look like new and with the Por 15 should give me many more years of use. Over all I am very happy with these.
If you don't want to do the sliders that allow you mount without removing the LE trim for clearance issues and don't want to buy TE trim or Shrockworks trim, I think you may be limited to the Randy Ellis Design sliders. A couple people on here have them and they seem to hide the empty space pretty well.
P.S. You could also trim your LE trim to fit as many here have done.

Go out and look at your frame rails, gas tank skid and lower link connectors in the rear and compare it to the rocker height... More clearance is always better offroad, but I doubt removing the trail rocker trim would gain you much considering all those other points are lower. You will have way more issues with the bumpers and undercarriage....

This. However, I still would take 4x4labs over metaltech here. Both are superb but the labs sliders are a bit more protection than the others. Really you'll probably be happy with either. Both are excellent armor.

Sorry i saw this post last week and was going to reply sooner but better late than never. So here are some pics of my budbuilt beefy bumpout fulltread powdercoated sliders on my 14 TEP. I think these are all of the pics you were asking for plus some of how they mounted to the frame.
