Owner input on their Rock Sliders

Hi Kristy,

The plan is to get the Slee's.... and then sell the RR's as is. I scraped the parts I cut off....when it comes to my truck she is out of the loop on decision making anymore...:der:

I have the Sketch Up file on the cuts if it will help. I really miss the side protection they offered.
 
After tons of research and talking with manufacturers, I'm going with White Knuckle. Very impressed with their feedback and conversations with John.
 
Have you received your Metal Tech sliders? I was just wondering what you thought. I'm really torn between Metal Tech, White Knuckle, and 4x4 Labs. I really like the Metal Techs sliders but wonder how much different they are from the OPOR slider. Also, the 75 lbs weight is a little heavy. But, they sure do look nice.

They are a quality product and they are strong! I've had a chance to use them a few times now and they easily support the weight of the vehicle with almost no deflection. And yes, I have used them to hi-lift the vehicle as well. They work well as a step and there are no issues with clearance or bending so far, however they will deflect ~1/4" while supporting the full weight of the vehicle. As an added bonus, they really look sharp!

Did you have to weld the sliders onto the underside? or is it a bolt-on design? If the later, are there pre-drilled holes in the frame for the attachment? I have a 2010 SR5 and considering a bolt-on slider from Trail-Gear.

They're bolt on, and the bolt holes are placed to match the location of existing holes in the frame rail.

Just got my runner back from 4x4Labs from the fab and install of KDSS compatible sliders and all I can say is "Damn"! I've had Metal Tech's on my FZJ, and they were great, but these are really impressive.
 
Here is the design Bay Area metal Fab just released. These things are solid and they fit like a glove.

Very nice workmanship! I like the square tube bevel. Much like Rocky Road. I think it's such a nice feature.

'15 Trail. considering sliders, Most of the bolt on ones require drilling the frame. Will I run into any issues in the future? I know Magnusson Moss and all but might this give a reason for a dealership to deny warranty work for anything?
 
Metal Tech - little column a little column b

Picked up metal tech (not opor) sliders. Really like the look. The install was pretty straightforward. Wish I had known about them suing Demello though. I'll never buy any again because of that alone.
They do look damn sexy though.

I would double check this. I'm not aware of any of the bolt on ones requiring drilling of the frame. Mine are custom made - by me in my garage - and they don't require any drilling. I have KDSS as well and it wasn't hard to work around. The 4runner frame is the easiest frame I've ever seen to build sliders for.

How far do they com out from the truck?
Did you need to remove the plastic bits on the rocker panel?

FYI - I also just got BudBuilt sliders and they arrived less than 2 weeks from ordering. Great service and great slides.

I do not have the bump out versions, however the non-bump outs do not stick out further than my wheels/tires (285/70 tires on 17" wheels with 0 offset). They hang about 1/4" inside of them, which is exactly what I wanted.

White Knuckle Off-Road with a rear kick-out. Bolt on. Incredible build quality and welds, functional step but tucked enough to maximize ground clearance. Straight forward install.
