p0325 code need help...

That's what I thought you meant and why I was saying just leave it in. I don't know for sure but I'd say that time it stays off is just the readiness codes not resetting yet and as soon as it resets it throws it. Or until you exceed 4,000 rpm because that's what the ecm is monitoring

Also what brand of gaskets did you guys use for the upper and lower intake manifold...? I found a set of both (Brand Beck/Arnley... I believe) for $45.00
 
That means literally pulling off on the highway to reset the code and get back on the highway again to only have to resort doing this process again in 5-10 minutes... Thoughts?

I just left my acutron CP 9550 OBD plugged in. Every time the light came on I just cycled through the clearing process on my reader. No need to pull over, it will clear while you're driving. In your case, like me, your in a spot now where you need to change them or run a temporary splice like [MENTION=120313]BlackRustBucket[/MENTION] did.

What happens when you do that is, the ECM thinks it's reading both sensors, all six cylinders, however, you've slaved one bank into the other with the good KS so the ECM can now only dynamically control timing for three cylinders. (you fooled it into thinking it's six) It's a good temp fix designed to be used for TS only. Not designed to be permanent.

Running with retarded timing too long will cause damage to your engine. BTW I used Felpro gaskets. Quality gasket, no sealant, relatively inexpensive.

I'm not sure if there is a reset time for this code as there is for some of the other codes. I'm pretty sure it's fairly immediate once the ECM begins to advance the timing based on all of the other parameters. It will fail the sensor according to the FSM extract at or above 2000 rpm. I can vouch for that. I sure wish I could get a hold of the proprietary info on the logic in the ECM!!! That would be so golden. I love that stuff.

From my own experience, when mine went out, I would reset the code and no sooner put the reader down and the light came right back on. I think it would be safe to say it's immediate.

The 4000 rpm number you saw is for doing the wave form test to ensure it was at 0.141 msec. The frequency is so incredibly narrow on these sensors it's amazing.

EDIT: Keep in mind the ECM and the engineers behind it are pretty dang smart and will not retard your timing to a point where it will damage your engine! It retards it in SAFE mode. Definitely take this off the back burner and move it to the front burner but don't run around in panic mode.

Good stuff, folks. I've been eyeballing this thread for a few weeks. I won't hi-jack it. My truck threw this code a few weeks ago. I can easily clear it. But in two weeks it's starting to pop at exponentially shorter intervals. Not excited about this. Was hoping to keep clearing it for a while. Need to put some new vacuum hoses on anyway. Thanks for the detailed info.

Ah that's right....2K, I think when I drove it would basically stay off until I exceeded 2K. I could even go a few miles but then it inevitably would have to give it more power and it would pop up. The 4K stuck in my head for when I wanted to hook an oscilloscope up and hold it at 4K and try to measure the frequency. As for the elements individually looking at each cylinder frequency and controlling the timing in real time based off of their readings I had no idea this type of engine had that. Good to know...maybe I should look into getting that other harness, although I think it's a stretch to say the ecm would retard the timing so much that it would damage itself over time. May be though, sounds like you're pretty on top of it. Either way my frame will rot out from being on the east coast before I have to worry about engine damage from something like that lol. What your saying is definitely the right way to go though for the OP, my splice is definitely a temp fix or a get through emissions fix ha.

Probably just the harness starting to deteriorate more and more, it's not a bad job though...just schedule a day out to knock it out. Good luck
