Need help to pass my smog! P0340

Help! So I have a P0340 code which appentley is the camshaft sensor. I need to fix this in order to pass my smog. First of all I don't know where it's at can't seem to find it :noidea: Can someone point me to the right direction to locate the sensor. Is the sensor easy to swap like oxygen sensor? Last question is going with an aftermarket one okay? Or bite the bullet and go with an Oem for almost 200 from the stealership?

Dang! That means I need to remove upper hose which is going to require to buy more coolant from Toyota :ybrick: lol
 
You might want to try this first before removing the hose. As long as everything is cold you can try removing the hose clamp and moving the cover forward/shimming it over the hose (maybe, idk if you'll have enough clearance) to expose the sensor. Might be worth a try and save a couple bucks.
 
Okay what about replacing this part with an Oem or aftermarket? Has anyone replaced it? Any input would be awesome thanks! And It should just be a plug and play right?
 
Okay I finished replacing the cam shaft sensor and erased the codes :thumb: Now my question is how long do I have to wait/drive my truck before I can take it in for smog check? :noidea:

Since you reset everything, you'll need to complete the drive cycle.

Here's a generic version that will likely work:

Most OBD II ("On-Board Diagnostics II") diagnostic monitors will run at some time during normal operation of the vehicle.
However, to satisy all of the different Trip enable criteria and run all of the OBD II diagnostic monitors, the vehicle must be driven under a variety of conditions. The following drive cycle will (theoretically) allow all monitors to run on (??) vehicle. (Note: Drive cycle specifics vary by vehicle!)

1.Ensure that the fuel tank is between 1/4 and 3/4 full.
2.Start cold (below 86°F /30°C) and warm up until engine coolant temperature is at least 160° F (typically requires at least one minute; up to 3 minutes).
3.Accelerate to 40-55 MPH at 25% throttle and maintain speed for five minutes.
4.Decelerate without using the brake (coast down) to 20 MPH or less, then stop the vehicle. Allow the engine to idle for 10 seconds, turn the key off, and wait one minute.
5.Restart and accelerate to 40-55 MPH at 25% throttle and maintain speed for two minutes.
6.Decelerate with using the brake [or the clutch!] by coasting down to 20 MPH or less, then stop the vehicle. Allow the engine to idle for 10 seconds, turn the key off, and wait one minute.
