Installing new cats because of that pesky code... not looking forward to buying OEM Toyota ones. I have a 03 sport that needs them. Anyone have any experience with some cheaper not cheapest cats that will work and successfully clear that code? Would appreciate it if you guys could tell me how long you have your installed and whether or not any codes came back. Appreciate it

I think I went with the cheapest one Rockauto had that had a decent warranty. I only replaced one side. The manifold nuts were a bear to get off. I had to cut some off with a plasma cutter. Do make sure you have no exhaust leaks as that can cause some of these codes.

i had a 420 code coming on almost daily earlier this year. my mechanic found a very small exhaust leak near the cat and that fixed it.

I got rid of the P0420 buy adding spark plug anti foulers to the down stream O2 sensors. They come in a two pack. Drill out the bottom of one with 1/2” bit and screw it into the the other one. Then install the O2 sensor into the anti foulers and into the exhaust. It pulls the sensor out of the exhaust stream and tricks the ecu to think its within spec. Total cost was $7 a side
