Greetings All,
I preface this by saying I just arrived in Charlotte for 3 days of business before the holiday. All of this happened on my drive here today. That said, I am not home near my FSM or EWD for reference, so I ask (lightly) here.
On my way to the office this morning, before my drive out to Charlotte, I randomly used my SGII to scan for codes. There was no CEL on at the time, I just checked it for the hell of it because I haven't in who knows how long. No codes, but 1 code pending: P0420. I cleared the code to see if it comes back.
Fast forward 180 miles down the road on my trip to Charlotte, I'm checking again for any sign of the P0420. No code/Not Ready on the SGII, and nothing pending. Stop for gas.
Pull out of the gas station, hear a loud pop/thud, which I assumed was just my tires throwing a decent sized rock into my wheel well. (This may or may not be relevant AT all, just forwarding what I've got...."
Stopped for beer 10 miles past getting gas. Get Beer. Start Driving. About 5 miles past the beer stop, I look down and notice I have no Odometer/speedometer/tachometer/coolant/gas gauges. SGII registers voltage, coolant temp, trans temp, but shows 0 for my mph. I also noticed that I have no fan, cruise control, or AC. I scanned via SGII, and it said "No codes/Not Ready, but there was the pending P0500. NO CEL or ABS or Brake lights, but that may be due to the SGII still reading not ready
The dash lights work on gauges as well as the fan/ac controls, but nothing actually functions. The lights illuminating the PRND2L on the gauges are NOT lit. All fuses under hood/kick panel LOOK good, but as I'm away from home, no multi meter to actually test.
TLDR: Force Cleared a Pending P0420 this morning. Drove 200 miles for a trip. Discovered 10 miles from destination that no guages on the dash were operating, as well as fan speed control, AC, or Cruise control. Everything is backlit as it normally is. Pending Code: P0500.
-Any Chance the p0420 and p0500 are somehow related? My guess is no?
-Searching brings up a lot on the P0500 and speed sensors, but the majority of these posts discuss 01 & 02 models. These have VSC/TRAC/ABS lights illuminating accompanying the p0500.
-I'm 3 days away from my FSM and EWD.....is there any chance this might leave me stranded somewhere? If not, am I running the risk of long term damage anywhere by not testing/diagnosing/fixing it until I get home?
- Where should I start? If I can wait until Thanksgiving, I guess start with testing the wheel sensors themselves?
