So a few weeks ago my 2002 Sport had a CEL on for “shift solenoid A, electrical malfunction”, P0753, and another code for left rear wheel speed sensor, and bank 1 02 sensor. Didn’t seem to cause any real problems. I noticed it would act sluggish sporadically when taking off. Trans fluid is fine, no metal shavings or pieces of debris, shifts normally. But ever since I turned off the ECT button, the CEL has gone away and I’m not having any problems anymore. Anyone have any problems with this? I also noticed at the starting of winter a loud squealing for about 30 seconds or so on startup or when taking turns, or engaging 4wd. Sometimes the squeal also surges and makes the lights dim.

squeeling in most cases is caused by a loose belt dimming lights could be because alternator belt is loose. ECT button changes the shift points to higher revs to provide more acceleration. In all probability your solonoid is on its way out.
edit . Just take the one bolt out and clean the rear abs sensor also get a denso o2 sensor and replace it.
cel will likely show up again 2 trip detection. I dought there is a conection between turning of ect and cel but I've been wrong before.
