P0770 code-mechanic says 'keep driving it'

I pulled the P0770 2 months after replacing my rad (preventative maintinence) and transmission fluid. My mechanic took it on the highway and in the city for a test drive, and like me couldn't find any shifting issues with it. At 269k kms, I'm inclined to go with his advice and just keep going.

I'm not sure I can justify a $1500 (est) trans. rebuild, and don't have my own garage to do the solenoid replacement (if thats what the issue is) to drop the pan, new fluid, etc. Used trannys with low kms are hard to find where I'm located.

Any opinions appreciated.

buy a used one off ebay or any salvage yard for ~300. Shipping wont be more than 200. find a cheap shop to put it in

Used tranny's w/ low kms just aren't around where I'm located, and shipping would be more like $400.

Has anyone else driven around w/ a P0770 code for a while?

My friend David drives an 01 SR5, P0770.

Started months ago, he still daily drives the truck. Says he still doesn't notice any difference compared to before.
