My 4runner has had a p1700 code since I bought it and after several searches I have not come up with a solution. Most searches say it is the Speed Sensor #2 and the pervious owner (who always took it to crappy garages) had a mechanic cut and rewire the 2 wire speed sensor on the transmission. I re sodered them and tested the sensor against one I got from the yard and it they seemed to be fine but the code returned. Has anyone had a p1700 and successfully fixed it??
