Hello. I have a 2016 trail with 24,700 miles on it. About 3 months ago I purchased the pedal commander. Love the quick throttle response, but today made the 2nd time that my check engine light, trac off and multi terrain light come on. I scanned the car and it was throwing 3 codes, all of them were p2121 throttle/pedal position sensor/switch d circuit range/performance. I went ahead and removed the pedal commander and rescanned the car. It is still showing 1 P2121 and that one is showing as permanent. Can someone help me out here. Is this the pedal commander or do I have something else going on? All help is appreciated

Oh man that sucks, I'm sorry to see that.
The last time I dealt with that code (different vehicle) it required a new sensor. Maybe you should reset the ECU by removing the negative battery cable for ten minutes, right after you try to manually clear that code with your scan tool. It's possible (I think?) that our ECUs do a bit of "learning" with our throttle usage, which translates to pulsed electric signals, really. Since the PedCom alters those signals, it could be simply confusing the ECU. Why it would have taken until now is a mystery, but it could be as simple as a wire connection degrading, or maybe a bit of dirt in a pin. In fact, I would clear the code, unhook the battery (make sure that negative cable is not touching anything metal during this!) and the remove the PedCom, and clean out all of the contact points with canned air.
I honestly have no idea if that will help, but it's what I would start with.
Surely more experienced members will chime in as well. Good luck!

Reset it again, or just wait for a few full cycles. It should delete itself. Discussed this issue on another thread related to these throttle controllers. I don't run one on my 4Runner, but I did on my modified 2014 Camaro SS. After about a year and a half, continued to get that same CEL until I removed the controller. Once I did that, no more CEL. Common issue within that community for those mods.
I have not unhooked the battery but I will tomorrow. I did erase 2 of the 3 codes but what scares me is it says permanent on the scanner. The check engine and other lights however are gone but I have not driven it to see if it is out of limp mode due to heavy rains this afternoon and being tired of fooling with it already. I will update tomorrow. Thanks so much for your guys advice! Means a lot!

In my experience with code readers a code will stay stored in the vehicle ECU till the ECU cycles several times. Your code reader might be reading a "stored code" as permanent. My hope for you is that the pedal commander while hooked up temporarily messed up the timing of the TPS and will clear after you drive it 20ish miles or so with the pedal commander disconnected.

Having the same issue here. Yesterday driving back home from work all the same lights came on. I have a 2016 4runner Trail with the pedal commander installed. Had the pedal commander installed about 3 months now. Hooked my Carista and scanned the codes and got the same ones.
Did a reset of the OBD2 and all the lights disappeared. This morning on my way to work the same thing happened. Were you able to fix the issue?

Don't quote me on this but I think some people in my local group talked to pedal commander and they got theirs swapped out? Can't quite remember.
I've had this issue come up once myself and it was literally because I kicked the connection to the pedal with the commander hooked up and the vehicle on. I just cleared the code and haven't had the issue in over a year. Fingers crossed I guess.
I would hit up PC and see what they say. Good luck and let us know.

Happened to me too on a rainy day. The car power acted funny as well as if it was something wrong with the engine. Also the TC and 4x4 acted funny.
I removed the PC, cleared the code, drove around the block few times and cycle the engine several times but the problem remained. My problem disappeared after I cleared the code and everything was dry.
Similar symptoms were reported by others without PC and they said they had to replace an ABS sensor - unclear to me and them why it would report problems with the throttle body sensor.

i had the same issue. 18 pro with the commander. emailed customer service and they mentioned the harnesses might have come slightly loose and to check the wire lines to ensure they're not kinked. after i did all that it still kept happening. they sent me a new one with no issues any longer.
...I have a 2018 4runner TRD with a PC for almost a year now ..I have really enjoyed it and it's been issue free ..until this morning...I went to accelerate getting on the parkway and it seems it tried to downshift and it just bogged and went flat? I thought it was going to stall out so I backed off the accelerator and it recovered....anyone having issues?

I had this happen with my Pedal Commander twice. First time I just made sure the connector was on securely and there were no kinks in the wires, reset the codes and disco'd the battery.
The second time it happened I emailed PC support and disconnected everything and hit the connector/harness with some compressed air, reconnected, cleared codes and disco'd the battery. No problems since then. My guess is my foot hit the wire so I tucked it up and out of the way a little better or there was some dirt/dust in the harness. I drive with the windows down a lot and there's almost always a fine layer of dirt/dust in my truck.
PC Support was helpful and offered to test my PC and replace if needed, but it hasn't happened again so I never sent it in.

Just had this same thing happened to me today. PC purchased in August this year, no problems since today. I put the pedal to the floor and barely started accelerating. I parked and made sure that all of the wires were seated properly, cleared the P2121 code, drove with no problems.
If it happens again, I will contact PC and connect the OEM controller to see if it persists.

No issues for me since last May when I reported my issue. I suspect that last year dirt got on one of the ABS sensors.
BTW, if changes in PC going from one setting to another one are made while driving P2121 code will appear. The changes need to be done while in parking or cruising without touching the gas pedal.
