I recently purchased the AVS Bugflector II. The hood was really hard to close at first but I ajusted the rubbers an now it's fine. The thing is that at my first attempt the deflector got squeezed so hard between the hood and the front bumper that it chipped a 1/4 inch paint spot down to the primer at one of the contact ponts under the hood.
Because it's a contact point of the deflector to the edge of under the hood, touch-up paint and even clear coat won't last as the deflector rubs it off from very minimal hood closing/driving wind turbulence movement.
I am concerned that I now have a primer exposed chip under the hood. I live up in road salt country.
Should I be worried about rust getting in there?
What is the underhood made of?
Should I just touch it up and forget about installng a deflector (better to fix rock chips as they happen than having a primer exposed dent under the hood)?
Am I freaking our for no reason?
