Paint code for silver Trail wheels?

I bought a spare wheel from another member and turns out it's graphite, not silver. I've searched around quite a bit and while there are lots of people painting wheels, none seem to be using a color matched paint. Mostly plasti-dip and duplicolor. And I'd rather just spray it than powder coat it.

Any suggestions, or pointers as to where I could find it? I've got a 2011 Trail with silver wheels, but I imagine most toyota silver wheels are the same.

Call your local Toyota dealer talk to the service department. Give them the VIN# and they will tell you the paint code to any piece on the truck.

Just FYI that is an FJ wheel (which will obviously work just fine), they shipped with the darker 8 hole.

Ahhh - old school! Using my voice to talk to another human. Fascinating. Good idea though, I'll give that a try on Monday.

Just seems odd it's not more common knowledge.

Yeah - totally my fault for not paying attention. I think he even told me it was an FJ wheel, it just didn't process. Nothing a little paint can't fix, though - as long as I can find the color match.

TOYOTA PAINT CODE LOCATION

Locating your Toyota color code is as easy as 1-2-3, as it’s located as the same place with all models and years. All you have to do is look on the driver side door jamb for a 3 digits code. All Toyota color codes contain numbers and letters and is preceded by a C/TR inscription.

C/TR is Color/Trim if I remember right, so if you need to know what the interior color code is TR would be your Interior Color. At least if I remember right.

The TR code (trim) is for for typically plastic claddings or a lower color on a two tone but can sometimes also be wheel colors so be careful and keep that in mind.

PPG color books by year are pretty good about having wheel color chips.
I'd find a PPG autopaint store and look at a book for your year model
and see if you can match it to their book.

Also if sprayed out of paint gun air pressure can be huge especially on silvers. If the paint is mixed correctly you can still make it shades too dark or too light if your air pressure isn't correct for the gun you use. If it's put in a aerosol can you just get what you get

Calling the dealership works pretty well too most of the the time but some times Joe in the parts dept on the phone will pull something out of thin air just to get you off the phone because he feels he has better things to do. There are a couple of GM dealers here who are bad about that. I have seen them hand out some bunk paint codes to my customers before.

I didn't realize silver was harder to spray than other colors, but I've really got nothing to lose and only want it close, not perfect, since it's just a spare.

There's no auto-paint store super nearby for me to look at the PPG books, but there's a dealership just down the street from me. I'll stop by & chat with the parts guy later in the week - he's usually pretty accommodating.

I would try to trade for a 4runner wheel. I imagine it would be cheaper and better looking. The whole wheel isn't painted, the edges are polished and clearcoated.
