looks like it would be somewhat easy to do with taking your time and following directions. I am thinking about ordering me the front bumper and door trim pieces.

The stuff works well. You can buy kits on Ebay for relatively cheap ($200-$300). Ventureshield also makes the same product with a longer warranty. My father has a FULL setup on his Porsche- even covers half of the hood and it's AWESOME. It will save you money in the long run and keep rock chips from ruining your paint. You can also buy 3M's product in bulk and in different thickness. This is nice for over the rear fenders and the plastic that intrudes into the wheel well. I wouldn't try to apply it yourself, however, unless you have a lot of time and are extremely detail-oriented. Experienced people can do it quickly but it is somewhat difficult.
I have it on my cars. Stuff is great.
Rock chips will have little to no impact. Yeah, one seemed to have gauged a little out of it on the hood, but it's protection. Car washes/waxes don't care and there's no build up on the edges.
On the head lights, it's been great for the years I have it. There has been no discoloration, fogging, or yellowing. If for anything, it should be a requirement as micro scratches, UV and road debris does take their toll.
The fog light install seemed to have had a problem though. It usually goes on with a slightly cloudy film which dries up, but the fog lights never seemed to have cleared up 100%.

I ordered a 2018 Black TRD PRO and before I take it onto highway I want some sort of film/protectant on the paint. Whats a good product? is 3m? I wanna cover front part of hood and bottom of 4runner between wheel to wheel and about a 6" high strip. This seems to be problem areas on most vehicles. Also does a person pay the $800 for paint protection from the dealer? or is it a scam? I did opt for the $500 undercoating protection/sound reducer

I had it done my 18 Limited. I went with the xpel brand. I did the entire hood, front bumper including the chrome, and the side rocker panel where the running boards are.
I kinda want to do the inside of the door handles (door cups??), the front fenders and the mirrors but it would of cost way to much money.

I had XPEL ceramic window tint installed on my 3rd gen. If my paint wasn't too rock chipped I would've done the paint protection too. I went to their shop and watched them put the clear bra on some cars...it doesn't look easy. I would highly recommend paying a pro to do it. As far as if it's worth it or not, guess that's per person but they said their ultimate film is warrantied for 10 years, is the world's first self-healing film, and requires no extra maintenance other than washing.
I'm definitely going to consider it on my next car.

New 4 runner has about a foot onto hood. Pillars. In front of sunroof and first bit of fenders.
Very important spot to not forget... Inside the door handles if the wife has a rock
Works very well can order kits if you have a knack for it but if not just get someone who is good at it. I put it in my downhill bike but the guy did my 4r in about an hour

I had this on the front 12 inches of my amazon green Land Cruiser. It started peeling in a place, and what did I do, but decide just to take the whole thing off.
Bad move. The paint underneath no longer matched the paint that wasn't protected, so there was a distinct line running along the hood. Solution: Go get another clear bra installed, right? Right! Except they can't exactly match where the last bra was, so the next go-round, if there ever is one, I'll have THREE shades of green on my Cruiser. :rockon:
