Painted my OEM 98 4runner rims...debating if I should clear coat after painting

So my 98 4runner rims where looking very very bad...so I took the time to prep them for paint (2 hours a rim). So I primed with etching primer then filler primer and then painted and they turned out great. However I'm reluctant to clear coat them as I don't want them to be overly shinny. What do you folks think? And if you did clear coat which of the Duplicolor clear coat products would you use?

I would definitely clearcoat. It will add a lot of additional toughness against chips. If you don't want a shinny finish go with a matte or semi-gloss. My only recommendation is to use the same brand clear as you did basecoat to ensure proper bonding.

Definitely clear them.... do the first few coats nice and shiny.... then on the last couple of coats.... mist the clear on them... makes it look semi-gloss... and kinda textures the finish. I've done that with a few projects....
