Painted rims and other items with Anthracite Metallic paint

The 4th gen rims on my 97 had some nasty corrosion in places and clear coat peeling. I liked the color of the license plate frame against the white of my 4R.
Found out it was Anthracite Metallic 1A1 being the paint code. We sanded and primered the rims and layed down 3 coats of paint. I also decided to paint the front scoop and hood guard and the rear wing over the back window. It was all faded black and looking pretty sad. I'm very happy with how well our very amature painting techniques worked. Perfect? No!, but then again who gets down on their knees and hands and inspects the paint job on a rim?
Oh, I highly recommend using Index cards if you paint your wheels. Very easy and not as time consuming as tape and paper. Index cards to do all 4 wheels $3 at the dollar store.

looks great. I still have to get my 4runner back on the road before i can even think about painting the rims but i definitely want to do this. My truck is all blacked out which I like but the rims are chipped and I'm thinking about changing the black rims to another color. I really like the color you used. How do you think it would look on a blacked out truck?

We have slightly different tastes because I would paint the center caps and turn the lettering around on the tires.

Are you running any spacers with those wheels? Got any shots that show how far out they stick when viewed from the front or rear? I've got the same wheels in my garage with 35's mounted and 1.25" spacers and I'm wondering if they'll fit

Thanks I appreciate that. It was really dull looking and only took 2 minutes to take off, so I figured why not.

Well I am actually getting ready to leave in just a few minutes to run down and paint my center caps. I decided I don't like that look. As for the tires, I can't justify the $$ to just turn em around, but yeah, I usually put the black side out. I purchased it already like this.

Thanks, I am not running any spacers at all. They pretty much set even with the SR5 flares. I'll try and get a pic soon as I can. With the spacers and a lift you should not have too much fitment problem, but 35's are huge, lol.

Awesome! I can't wait till I have a little time to get to this project! Think i'm going to wait till I get the beefier tires just in case the rims get scratched during the install plus i want to paint over the rim weights.

Alright, we got the center caps painted and put on today. Yep it looks a lot better.

Just a FYI, all of my wheel weights are on the inside glued to the center section. Might be a better way to go. Absolutely no vibration what so ever.

I would scrub the tires white marks clean and then paint the letters flat black. It sounds stupid but it will work.

Ehhh, it may take me longer to decide to do something with the white letters, LOL. I guess it is a hold over on my old hot rod days and running full white letters out on my cars. They aren't too clean right now either with all this rain. Once cleaned up and side wall dressing put on, they do look much better.
