Panhard Lift Bracket

My idea for a lift bracket... Will be welded over existing mounting point on axle... Still waiting on DOM tube to weld panhard bar so don't have finished pictures... The bottlom of the gusset will still need to be shaped to match curve but didn't want to do anything yet before final fitmetnt. thoughts so far?

looks good, one thing to note after having done this myself is that you need to be aware of several things.
1. you are raising the roll center and this causes the axle to swing farther outwards towards the compressed side. this means your tire will be pushed further out and can cause rubbing potentially where there was none before.
2. dont make it too long, it will hit the frame. you must extend the bump stops.
3. if you cant make it long enough to be flat, make it a hybrid half drop half lift, or any ratio to get the panhard flat and also prevent any collision between the bracket on the axle and the frame.
 
Thanks for the tips... The new panhard bar will be adjustable as well so I'm thinking that will help straightens things out. And I already made extended bump stops when I installed my lift.

I did some research on this and what I came up with was it is better to extend the axle side bracket than to drop the frame side bracket when trying to re-align the rear end geometry. The adjustable panhard bar and rear links will further re-align suspension and driveline angles. Just the adjustable bar without a bracket does not allow for correct articulation pattern in the rear end, just the bracket alone without the longer bar doesn't help correct the tracking of the rear end fully.

Not trying to argue that you are wrong but can you point out the reasons it would be better to raise the axle side rather than drop the frame side?
 
He is right, but without all the info of his application based on his post. The best solution is to adjust frame side. A true lift correction would involve all links being stretched to move axle back to stock location and pinion angle.

It all has to do with the rear roll center height... Lowering the frame side bracket will lower the center of gravity causing the truck to feel more unstable...

That's the idea ... I'm starting with the panhard bar and then going start on the rest of the links

Correct. The last thing you want on a runner is a lower roll center!
 
That makes sense about raising your roll center. Now it makes me want to cut off my drop bracket and make a axle side lift bracket. Do you have a lift already installed? If you do let us know it effects handling. I noticed a difference with my Panhard drop but with the raised roll center it might make less body lean around corners enough for me to make a new bracket

Yes I have lift installed... Tundra shocks/coils up front and 891 with spacers in rear with 33x12.5 tires
 
Let us know if you notice a big difference in handling. When I did my panhard drop I didn't know anything about suspension geometry and since I've learned a lot I've never really thought about the whole panhard thing much. You also said you wanted to change your links. What do you plan on doing? Just upgraded links or you gonna change the link geometry?

Going to extend the upper links to bring the pinion angle same as driveshaft angle... I found some diagrams before let me see if I can find them before

Here you go:

We've got DC joints on the rear shafts. There is no simpler shaft to set-up than these. You can run a straight line from the pinion up the shaft and that is considered a perfect angle. However, I'd allow for around 1-2 degrees of the pinion pointing down to help with the springs settling over time.

Just be careful with extending them (1/4" is about all you'll need). The vast majority of 3rd Gen owners will never need to mess with the pinion angle. Unless you're having a driveline vibrations I wouldn't mess with them honestly. Every time I've messed with the uppers I also messed with the lowers. When you length one but not the other you're going to mess with the geometry.

That's just my $.02.

You are correct they will both need to be adjusted... I'm just doing it one set at a time is all. All the bushings needs to be replaced in my existing ones so this would be a good time to get them done... And yes I'm starting to get a vibration at the rear end, and have checked bearings and u-joint to rule those out first.
