Parking Brake Blues

hey fellas so I picked up an old 84 a few months back and ive slowly fixing her up to make her trail worthy again and ive hit a snag in the process. the parking brake cable is streched and the adjuster has been maxed out trying to compensate for it so im curious if anyone has riged something to make the original cable work properly or if i need to just cut my losses and buy a new one

I've never had to mess with mine, but can't you get a cable clamp and take a bight out of the cable?

Does your truck have a body lift or suspension lift? That will shorten the cable up quite a bit. I agree with KidV, if I were you I'd go to your local hardware store and get some cable and clamps and just extend it. My local Ace hardware has all that stuff.

it has a six inch suspention lift but how this cable became so streched i dont have a clue clamps sound like a good idea thanks for the help guys!

When you lift your truck that high it stretches out the E brake cable because the distance between where the cable is mounted under the body of the truck and where it attaches to the rear axle is longer than stock.
