Part Numbers For Interior Light Mod....PLEASE

In order to avoid going blind at night, I could really use your assistance ordering LED's for an interior light mod.

With help from this forum, I installed LED's from KB Carstuff on my 2009 4th generation SE and they worked fantastic. In fact I'd forgotten how good they were until the first night in my new 2013 Trail, when I could barely find where to put the key.

Unfortunately KB says there isn't a light kit listed for the 5th generation Trail. I could take out some bulbs to get those numbers, and they'll figure out what LED's correspond. However I'm really, really hoping someone here has already made the switch, and has the correct part numbers.

I want to change out everything. The switch on map lights (2), and the center light for the front row (1). The back seat dome light (1) , and the two tail gate lights (2) Also the four door lights on the bottom (4). A total of ten LED's I believe.

My night vision isn't the greatest as it is, and I hear night vision goggles are really expensive...;^) Any help would would really, really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Seeing as it's dark out and you have poor night vision, you probably didn't notice this in your search.

mace did you actually review that thread? I found it in my original search yesterday and wasted a LOT of time going through all THIRTY THREE pages. Including page 28 you linked above which alleges a connection to the correct bulbs, but really goes to a fun place called "404 Not Found."

That thread started with the OP pitching light kits he never identified by manufacturer or part numbers. Kits so confusing buyers such as phillyd2 asked "at least post pic of which lights go where as none were labeled."

By page 13 the thread was imploding with three straight posters (gamerc, jwang415, and windy city saying the OP's mail box was full, and wondering where their paid orders were. Things got worse from there, and while reading all 491 bloody posts might offer a lead on vendors...you still will not know exactly where to order which bulbs.

This forum is a place to learn and share information, and I had some great help finding out what to get for my 4th Gen lights. I would like to repeat that experience for my new rig, and buy through our board sponsor KB.

Snarky comments with a link to an ill fated thread doesn't help anyone. Hopefully someone out there has installed a set of good interior lights on a 5th Gen Runner and has a record of what they were.

Here is a better thread with part numbers.....http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/62252-interior-lighting-mod.html
The 4 doors,2 map lights and 2 license plate lights are 194's and the dome and two in the rear hatch are DE3175's which can be replaced with a bunch of other festoon type bulbs. I have the 30 LED festoon ones with the spring loaded base and connector in the dome and rear hatch. The center light, door handle and floor opera lights are already factory leds and can't be replaced unless you rewire new ones.
I bought from superbrightleds dot com too.
That's for 10'-13's but most likely 14's take the same but not 100% sure and someone can report back.

I think I put this into the thread that Harper just referenced, but here are the part numbers for the ones I ordered from super bright...

--Rear cargo area lights -- 3022-W9 LED Festoon bulb-White
--Dome light in back seat -- 3022-W9 LED Festoon bulb-White
--Map lights in front – WLED-WHP5 High power wedge base bulb-White
--Puddle lights on doors – WLED-WHP9-T LED High power wedge base bulb-White
--Side mirror lights -- WLED-WHP9-T LED High power wedge base bulb-White
--License plate lights – WLED-A6 Wedge base bulb-Amber

Also, for the cargo area, see this thread:
Cargo Area LED Mod

Great work snooper. I've already printed out that section from the linked thread and was getting ready to write a thank you note to both you and harper.

Quick question...on your list does that still include the bulbs that you had to adjust due to the tight fit?

EDIT: P.S. Your cargo light mod was incredible, and threads like that with photos and detailed information make this forum. That also applies to harper who linked the correct thread to answer the question, then added his own take.

Maz Actually I did go through that thread for you. Sorry that the link gives you a 404 error but when I open it in my browser it takes me to the specific link in which Jaker listed what he was using. Also sorry that I couldn't discern from you original post that you had done a search and already came across that post. Since the link doesn't work for you here is what jaker had listed.

Yep. You'll need twelve 194/168 LEDs (for a Limited, of course). This involves two for the map lights, two for the vanity mirror lights, two for the side mirror puddle lights, four for the door courtesy lights, and two for the license plate lights.

For the rear hatch you'll need two 3175 base/adapter LED boards.

For the dome light you'll need one 3175 base/adatpter LED board

FYI: I personally thought the dome light was way too bright and ended up "downgrading" to this bulb (matches the map lights perfectly). However, if you'd still like a really bright light, I'd recommend this bulb instead over the LED board.

Snarky comments are how we express our love for each other around here. Embrace the love :yo:

This thread reminded me that I never even installed mine and until you mentioned it actually forgot all about them :redbrick:

OK, in the spirit of T4R comradeship I'll embrace the, how did you call it philly? Oh yea, "love"....LOL

After re-reading the thread I did get too snippy, but after sorting through almost 500 posts and getting error messages after not found message I was very cranky.

My apologies mace.

I missed superbrightlights for the day (who is only open until 4 P.M. CST ??), but will try to regroup this quest for tomorrow. Thanks to all for the responses and help, it's much appreciated.

Thanks Maz. Didn't mean to come across as a @$?!, was just trying to bust your chops while trying to answer your question. Judging from your post count and time on here I'm sure you know how to search.

Also the info you were looking for wasn't as easy to find as all of the which bumper, what's that noise, which lift, what tires will fit that we have been seeing a lot of recently.

Got mine from vleds.com.. A little more expensive I think but well worth it.. They also have a link on their site that shows your bulbs for the whole truck.. Easier to search than on here I found.

Thanks for the tip patch, but aided by the previous help from Snooper and harper, I ordered a set of bulbs from superbright this morning.

Here's what I ordered and hopefully this is going to be a keeper:

(8) WLED-WHP5 Cool White bulbs

2 Vanity Mirrors

4 Puddle Lights

2 Map Lights

(4) SMD LED Festoon - 3022-CWHP4 Cool White bulbs

2 Dome Lights

2 Back Hatch Lights

With my TE there are no mirror lights, and why would I want to make it easier for the police to read my license plate number....:hello:

I know Snooper had recommended the brighter WHP9 for the door puddle lights. However they measure out longer, and I didn't want to take a chance on fit.

I'll let everyone know how things work out. Assuming they do work out I'll post a new thread specifying contact info for the supplier and part #'s. I'll add Snooper's suggested puddle light, and also the door light / license plate info I didn't order. Any member searching for interior LED's in the future will hopefully pull that thread up first, and avoid the 33 page nightmare....

patch I think it would be great if you add the contact into for vleds.com, along with your part numbers to that future thread.

P.S. I couldn't find any link for the 4Runner bulb section on there ??

Lamp Replacement Guide Home

This is the site vleds.com refers you to. Just add the year and make and model and it gives you all the bulb numbers for your ride. Then take the part number(s) you want and put it in the search bar on vleds for "search part number" and it will return the led bulb equivalent and just pick the color you want. I found it easier as I got confused on the led equivalent part numbers from superbright. But glad you got it all worked out.

based on 2 different posts and looking at VLEDS and SUPERBRITES, I cant decide which route to go and if you kind folks could provide some input.

1 lists 4 3175 the other lists 3.

superbrites are 6k, vleds are 5k (closer to true white, less blue)

vleds are way brighter and cost more than the superbrites by almost $35

VLEDS :

3175's x 4 :
5K WHITE 1.5W 3 LED HIGH POWER UNIVERSAL DOME LIGHT BULB 31-36MM ADJUSTABLE 3175 DE3175

168-194 x 6 (come in 2's) :
5K WHITE 4 LED 2 WATT HP FLANK BULBS 194 168 158 | 1 PAIR

vs

SUPERBRITE :

3175 x 4 :
https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...s/de3175-led-bulb-4-smd-led-festoon/238/1129/

168-194 x 12 :
https://www.superbrightleds.com/mor...bulb-5-smd-led-wide-angle-wedge-base/206/919/

any and all inputs are greatly appreciated. I know most people install the 10 led version of the 168-194 instead of the 5 led version on the superbrites and I cant find any pictures of the 5 led vs the 10 led output. most pics of the 10 led imo seem way to bright but I have no reference. what may look bright may not actually be too bright for me or vice versa.

I have gone thru all the other thread for the last 5 hrs and I kinda on the edge of which way to go.

Whats the cost for something like this? I would also like some more light if possible...

superbrite came out to $102 for the 4, and 12 shipped cheaply.

vleds came out to $137.

the biggest difference is the output between vleds and superbrite. superbrite has a 10 led version but the cost goes from 6.95 to 9.95 each for the 12 so your back to within $2 of the vleds.

I went with the 5 led version of the 168-194 cause I don't want them to be overly brite, but I have no reference to compare, so I could end up buying the 10 leds and waste the money swapping out really bright ones to a normal brightness.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we will have some people who post reviews or comparisons of them. I also don't want them to be super bright, but would like more light. A little over $100 does not seem to bad.
