Parts donor purchasing...

Hey guys, I see a lot of guys that buy donor trucks for their projects, I was wondering where the best place to buy these trucks would be? Like I need a salvaged, wrecked truck. I don't need any body pieces, just drive train parts. Thanks!

It really depends on your area. I have had success with Craigslist for parts and donors. You may have good luck in auto scrap yards for specific parts that will let you skip the hassle of dealing with a whole vehicle.

What parts are you looking for?

I got mine on Craigslist. Copart would probably work too (I think childrendofboom got one or more of his there).

Everything 4x4 mainly. Where I live there aren't many yards that have these, I talked to a few who have done it and they say the best bet would be to get a donor truck. But I have no idea where to get one without the people asking 3k for a smashed runner lol

I got my rolled parts truck with no (working) engine but everything else for $300... but it was a sketchy deal in Bakersfield! I checked the VIN before purchase - not stolen... so it was good to go. No title, so disposal was a bit more difficult. It helps to know people when it comes to that.

But you can't beat the $300. What did ou search on craigslist? Just wrecked 4runner?

Nope, just 4Runner and limited the years. Sort by price... so the worst and most wrecked were at the top. It was luck, I think to find the right deal at the right time.

Riley,

I still have a lot of the 4wd parts if you still want them. I took my ads down a while ago, got sick of people. This includes the shifter, front spindles, axles, etc we discussed before.

LMK if you're interested.
