Party Mode

Have you placed your head next to the speakers in your front door? I initially thought everything went to the rear speakers, as well. However, after putting my head next to the door speaker, I find that I still get sound from the front speakers while in party mode. The sound from the rear seat door speakers is totally transfered to the tailgate, which makes it appear everything is coming from the rear. Check it out.

I think the stereo is great with certain types of music. Stuff like hiphop and "cleaner" indie/alt rock sounds amazing. My older mp3s, which tend to be more distorted, heavier rock, don't sound very good, but that could be due to the quality of the rip. If I download a hiphop song from itunes and stream via my iphone, it almost always sounds fantastic.

I 99% use my iphone w/ bluetooth streaming, party mode off. Party mode sounds great with the tailgate up and outside the vehicle, but it sounds too disjointed inside the car. You can tell all the sound is coming from the front and back instead of surround.

I have the ipod/bluetooth SR5 radio.

Auto Shut Off?

From the driver seat, there is no discernible difference in sound from one mode to the other in my LTD.

My question is about the sound system turning off after a certain amount of time. When listening to music while outside the vehicle, my system completely turns itself off after a certain amount of time. I have not timed it, but I would guess this occurs somewhere between 1-2 hours of continuous music. I assume this is a factory setting that prevents leaving the system on until the battery is drained? I have not RTFM specifically seeking this info, but curious if others have experienced this occurrence? I dislike having to turn it back on over and over again.

if the speakers in the tailgate are active so is PM. I would love to be able to know how to bypass the system so the rear seat speakers are also active when PM is.

The tailgate speakers should stay on, regardless of what mode you are in...

PM mode will just shut off the back seat speakers to provide more power to the tailgate and front speakers, which makes them louder.

If you like that sound better though, then keep it on all the time... but I prefer using all the speakers and adjusting the settings to get it balanced right.

SR5s --the rear passenger door speakers shut off (Look at the EWD). Limiteds--it's digitally controlled--it slightly increase the sound in rear. From what I can tell it seems to just get louder and increase in bass.

I have a 2015 SR5 P, anyone know if you can just but the party mode button and plug in to the 2014+ models? Used the 4Runner car camping and its fun to pop the trunk and have some background music.. but takes a while to send all the sound in the back via my T9 head unit..
