hey guys, i go to take the passenger side floor mat out today, and the carpet under the mat is wet, drivers side is dry, what are some things that could be causing this ? :wink2:

A leak...
ok but seriously... A little more info would be nice. Storm the day before, running through dirt roads, shaggy wet dog, etc etc.. I remember one time mine was soaked. The cause was my air conditioners condensation relief tube by the passenger front wheel well was clogged up from running dusty trails all day. It just formed a block so all the condensation just dripped in the passenger floorboard.

Need More Info
Could be several things, Heater Core, leaky seal, and so on.... Does it smell like coolant? If so it's the heater core that is leaking. If not, your search continues. What were the conditions before you noticed the leak? Raining, just washed, out on trails going thru puddles???

cleaning the inside out today and notice the passenger floorboard wet again, no rain here in 2 weeks, haven't been mudding either, and my ac is draining water because i see the big puddle after i park it, anybody here have the windshield seal leak like FOURWD1 is talking about ?

Hi, my windshield seal leaks on the passenger side, but OK at drivers side. Not good in our rainy season. I try to park on a slope pointing upwards so the water doesn't run around the seal. Not much help I know!

If it's leaking near the kick panel under the A-pillar check the sunroof drains. I know you say it hasn't rained in a while but are you parking near a sprinkler?

This thread has your answer. Most likely somebody ran wires through the firewall grommet and didn't seal it.

That's driver side... This thread is titled "passenger side"
Check the heater core. Mine was leaking from there and soaked the passenger side carpet. Although the smell of coolant would be there if it was the heater core.

i had to adjust the post that the door latch locks on to on my drivers side door due to having a non-japanese vehicle owner slam my door. It was leaking (visibly), and now doesnt at all. I agree with the sunroof check too, possibly the vents about the hood too. you just never know until to check everything.

Let me climb up on my soapbox for a few words. I've been doing Auto Glass for 20yrs and the windshield is often unjustly blamed for a leak. Are you the original owner? Has the windshield been replaced recently? Has the vehicle ever had a fender bender? Has someone punched out a rubber grommet in the firewall to shove wires through? I've even seen the XM wires put through the windsield seal. Through the years I have diagnosed a lot of leaks ( rainy Pacific Northwest ) and the best way to figure it out is remove all the interior trim panels around the area and also the grab handle and a pillar panel along the windshield. Have your (insert appropiate noun:wife,brother,father,mother,son or daughter,sister,friend,cousins uncle,neighbor etc) hose down the exterior while you sit inside (doors closed and windows up obviously) with a flashlight and wait for a drip. There are hundreds of possible causes as was mentioned earlier. The results of your water test will determine the next step. If your windshield is leaking, take it to a professional , certified Auto Glass Technician to fix it right. Do not smear silicone all around the trim on the outside of the windshield. (seen it thousands of times) The black moulding around the outside of the windshield is just trim. Modern windshields are bonded to the pinchweld with urethane adhesive and unless they are replaced by some hack are unlikely to leak. Sunroof drain hoses clogging up, cracked body seams, exterior lights (third brakelights,taillights etc.) holes in the firewall and heater cores are more common than you would think. Whoa! That was more typing than I've done in a long time! Hope it helps.............If not you've done your reading for the day!

I noticed while riding passenger last week my car was dripping water onto my feet. I believe in my case it is caused by the 90+ degree weather and condensation from running the air conditioning... that's the only time it drips for me.

Sunroof drain - clogged OR hose came off.
It could be the sunroof drain. First, check to see if any of them are clogged. Open your sun roof and insert a long piece of weed wacker chord into the drain.
What I found was that the drain hose came off of the sunroof drain nipple. You will need to remove the sun visor and grab handle to allow you to pull head liner away far enough to get to the drain hose. It is held on with a small clamp. see attached.

Revisiting this thread. I’m getting water behind the passenger seat. Front is dry, just rear is wet. Would that be the sunroof drain tube that may be clogged?

Could be, I dont have a sunroof but i'm pretty the 4 drains run through the 2 a-pillars & 2 b-pillars. They do in my cars. I've also read that the roof rack can leak & cause water in the back of the truck but water can run anywhere if it's in the headliner. Time to start pulling stuff apart, good luck.

Headliner is dry, so I’m thinking it’s the sunroof tube on that side. Not looking forward to pulling stuff apart.
