Passenger side interior buzzing noise...

So for the past couple of months my '19 developed an interior buzz noise coming from the passenger seat or dash area. It sounds like a plastic piece vibrating on another to create the buzz. It only happens at certain RPMs when the vibration is just right. Like sitting at a light with my foot on the brake. It is one of those annoying buzzing sounds that you can't unhear once you hear it. It is also loud enough that other people in the vehicle can hear it. It's not the wheel well rubber splash shield, this noise is definitely inside and a buzz.

When it makes the noise I tried pushing on anything and everything on the passenger side to see if I could find it. Seat rail plastic trim - nope. Glove box or something inside it - nope. Door panel or speaker - nope. Center console - nope. Makes the noise regardless if anyone is sitting in the seat or not. Pulled my hair out trying to find and isolate it.

Well, I think I found it the other day. I felt underneath the passenger side dash to see if I could feel anything loose. Not much loose under there but in the process I felt and pushed up on the big wiring harness that runs right next to the blower fan body. The buzz went away. It was quiet for a couple of days then came back slightly so I pushed up on it again and it went away. Tonight I looked up under there to see if I could see what was buzzing but didn't really see anything obvious. So I wedged a small piece of cardboard between the wiring harness and blower body to see if that will keep just enough pressure to stop the buzz. Hopefully it does the trick.

Anyway, not sure if this issue has been discussed before but if you are experiencing a similar interior buzz noise then check there.

Check the cabin air filter door to be sure it is tight. The cabin air filter is behind the glove box and above the wire harness you mentioned. To get to the cabin air filter, remove the contents of the glove box, then push the side latch arms inward.

Thanks for the info. I have what sounds like a similar (intermittent) buzz in my 2019, but mine sounds like it's coming from the driver-side mirror area, and only while driving. Of course, you can't hear it with the window down. I'll need to do some snooping under the dash, I guess.

Anyway, not sure if this issue has been discussed before but if you are experiencing a similar interior buzz noise then check there.

You have anything in with the 4wd shift handle? Coins anywhere? The center console actually vibrates quite a bit. That's where the majority of my buzzes come from, especially ones that are RPM dependent.

^^ Yeah, grab the 4WD shifter and hold it to see if the sound goes away. It vibrates a lot and can cause anything in the console or glovebox to vibrate.

Yep, I checked the 4WD shift handle and the cabin filter. Neither of those were the cause. It was that wiring harness and while I can't tell exactly what about it was causing the buzz, pushing on it stopped it.

Check the cabin air filter door to be sure it is tight. The cabin air filter is behind the glove box and above the wire harness you mentioned. To get to the cabin air filter, remove the contents of the glove box, then push the side latch arms inward.

another area to check is some plastic snap in trim under the dash in the passenger footwell. this would sometimes vibrate for me in the cold and it can be solved by a few smacks

I had the same buzz. Doing some research it seems like it's the round plastic clip that goes around the wire bundle and secures it. I found a guy suggest unclipping that clip to test, and the buzz went away for me. I ended up getting a small piece of foam to put in between the clip and wire bundle to provide a bit more pressure to keep the clip from vibrating. Been fixed for the past 6 months or so.

thanks for posting this. I have the same vibration noise on my passenger side. It goes away momentarily when I push on the dash speaker cover. I never thought of checking cabin filter. The noise drives me nuts!

Do you have a water bottle there? I have a regular 16.9 ounce water bottle there and it's too small for the cup holder so it's leaned forward. This causes the label on the water bottle to make some noise.
